Description
The Schlossbrauerei Kaltenberg was established in 1871 by Sigmund von Willibald. The Von Willibalds owned the castle and brewery till 1917 when the premises were acquired by the Schülein family. The Schülein heirs sold the castle and brewery in 1954 to the Wittelsbach family. The König Ludwig Schlossbrauerei Kaltenberg continues the 800-year tradition of brewing of the Wittelsbach dynasty. Prince Luitpold of Bavaria started in the 1970s to turn the small brewery in Kaltenberg Castle into a modern company.
The castle still houses part of the brewing installation of the König Ludwig Schlossbrauerei. 100,000 hectoliters of beer are brewed here every year. But most activities of the company are located in the large modern brewery in Fürstenfeldbruck. Since 2001 the König Ludwig Schlossbrauerei Kaltenberg has been a 50/50 joint venture with Warsteiner.

Flaska från Bierothek. Ljust gyllengul vätska med högt vitt skum. Rejäl och rustik, värmande alkohol och tydlig honungssötma, kryddig beska. Trevlig

500 ml bottle from Rewe City in Munich, Germany. Pours a clear dark amber-brown color with a thick beige head and excellent retention. Good lacing. Dark malt aroma, as expected. Very smooth dark malt flavor too. One dimensional, and good. Medium body. Semi-creamy mouthfeel. Lightly carbonated. Not bitter. Super sessionable. Great beer.

Doesn't have that heavy feel that a hefeweizen usually would have. Excellent choice for those non-beer people trying something new.

Flaska från Bierothek. Mahognyfärgad klar vätska med en krämig skumpuck. Kraftig, lätt metallisk i början, kryddig, fruktig sötma med banan, inlagda fikon, fruktkaka, choklad, fudge, men torr eftersmak med aromatiskt trä, kryddor, aska. Rustik och ganska komplex. Mycket gott
