We’re a small family-owned brewery tucked away in the village of Tongham, in the heart of the old Surrey hop-growing region. Still an independently owned brewery, Hogs Back owe much of their success to their iconic, flagship real ale 'TEA' (Traditional English Ale) - a firm favourite of cask-conditioned real ale drinkers throughout the UK and a multi-award winning brew year-in, year-out.

Bottled. I've got the seasonal variety Santas Wobble, which according to their website was so popular they made it a regular and changed the name of it. Pours deep amber. Syrupy, fruity nose. Full bodied, malty and very sweet. Nice woody, spicy finish.

Sampled cask conditioned. Deep golden. Pleasant hay-like aroma. Medium bodied, some malt sweetness. Really soft mouthfeel, a hint of salt, well balanced with bitterish finish. Pleasant all the way through. Top notch as a summer ale.

Bright amber; weird nose - meaty, slightly smokey, woody. The palate is minerally, hoppy, woody, with some pale malts. A very odd yeast strain, and the way it plays off the minerals in the water and the woodiness of the hops gives it an almost roast beef-like quality.

Sampled cask condiditioned. Dark brown. Light bodied for a porter. Dry, roasty, with a hint of coffee. Low bitterness. On the mild and light side of brown porters. Very suitable name.
