Description
Tigertops Brewery started in June 1995 by Stuart and Lynda Johnson (now of the Foxfield Brewery in Cumbria). Nowadays, brewing is under the control of Barry Smith known to many as "Axeman".
Barry enjoys experimenting with continental recipes and continental yeasts. It is based behind a private house at Oakes Street in Flanshaw near Wakefield, West Yorkshire, , and whilst perhaps not being as well known as some other micro breweries in the area, has produced a number of award winning beers appreciated by those who have tried them.

Firkin tap at PINT Meibockfestival ’13, thanks Potjebier! Not sure about the style, it’s a darker coloured heller bock with English ale-yeast... Slightly hazy orange/amber colour, thin white head. Aroma of loads of flowers, malts, hint of rye, light fruity, yeast. Flavour is medium-sweet, fruity, floral, caramel, yeast, nice bitter English hops in the finish. Soft carbonation, slick, oily mouthfeel. Nice beer.

Cask @ Brassigaume 2012. Clearer orange with a creamy white head. Mellow UK hops in the smell, some resin, mandarin, tad grapefruit and light caramel. Tastes of mellow pine resin hops, white berries, somewhat herbal, light malt base, some exotic fruits. Lighter, bit flatter cask body. Not bad.

Cask @ Brassigaume 2012. The beer that changed many times over its name down to the point that the guy who was selling this wasn’t sure whether it was called Black or Dark Shadow. Even the name written on top of the handle showed clear attempts of him trying to turn Black into Dark – possibly more than once, going back and forth. Pretty dark brown, going a bit to black or dark or maybe even black shadow with a shade lighter mocha head. Smells of roasted mocha and chocolate. Sweet mocha, almost touch vinous, berries, bitter hops in the back, chocolate, mellow hazer. Cask bodied so flatter, softer carb. a nice one.

Cask @ Brassigaume 2012. Pale golden with a white head. Smell is bitter fruity, UK hop profile, the Galaxy?, resin, light white grapes, fruity, melon, mellower on the bitterness. Bitter resin taste, mellow pine, melon, white grapes, UK hops, some malts to be found, light exotic fruits. Bit flatter / softer carb. – cask-style body. A well-done and enjoyable UK IPA.

Cask @ Brassigaume 2012.

Cask @ Brassigaume 2012. Beer listed as Western Hero in festival book but as Go West on teh tap handle, British guy ,anning the booth did not seem to know more about it. Said to be brewed with Galaxy and Cascade.

Cask, gravity at Harbury Beer Festival, Harbury, Warwickshire, 03.09.11 Not a bad beer, though it is far too sweet with lashings of watery sweet marmalade. A nice enough beer that could have been so much better. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Little cloudy deep yellow to orange beer, creamy white head, pretty stable, it adhesive. Aroma: lots of very ripe lemon, cheese. MF: little carbon, bit syrupy texture, full body. Taste: ripe lemons, pretty sweet malty, grapefruit. Aftertaste: citrus, pineapple, bit cheesy, bitter hops. Wouldn't call this an IPA, but it's pretty interesting for sure!
