Very dark brown. The aroma is raisiny, slightly tarry, burnt with dark fruits and background earthy/toffeeness. This is somebody’s interpretation of an old ale. Chrewy, sweet but quite earthy and tarry. Light raisin and molasses. Fairly light body - dangerously drinkable with its smooth dark flavours.

Ruby, small beige head. Sweet fruit and chocolate nose with some grass. Very thin body with some slightly roasted sweetness and quite carbonated mouthfeel.. Even given the style you wonder about the lack of hops. Bland.

Location: 11.2 oz bottle from Gilly's, 11/9/09
Aroma: An aroma of roasted malts and coffee with some bread notes and chocolate as well
Appearance: Pours an opaque black with a tick and bubbly brown head, and a good amount of lace
Flavor: Tastes similar to the nose, quite a strong roasted malty presence
Palate: This one is has a medium body and a nice dry and smooth finish
Overall Impression: I like this beer. It is pretty tasty, and works pretty well. Nothing overly standout here, just a solid attempt at the Schwarz style. Anyway, it is a nice brew.

Bottle bought in Perth by my sister. The color of beer was dark brown, much like Coca Cola. Fluffy white foam. The aroma contains something sweet, such as cola. Some coffee was there also. Not a huge aroma. A lot of sweet malt taste like caramel, coffee and dark chocolate. The ending offered a mild bitterness. Liquid was a bit thin, still a rather nice beer.

Golden pour with a short-lived small pond scum-like head.Aroma is completely artificial, with lime dish washing liquid, yellow jellybeans and lemon sherbet. Some sickening rancid smell underneath, can’t quite pinpoint it though. No malt or hops at all.Flavours are exactly the same, imagine corona with lemon and lime lollys added. Way to sweet and cloying.Incredibly watery. Pretty high carbonation.

Copper pour with a off-white persistent head.Lots of sweet malt on the nose with some hints of oats. If it wasn’t so faint it’d be quite good. Some chocolate and slight hops.More sweet dark malt upon tasting, with caramel and treacle. Not much else though.Too much carbonation and slightly watery.

Bottle from Meidi-ya in Kyoto. Pitch black with a nice tan colored head. Rich aroma of chocolate, caramel, and malt—sweet. Roasted malt flavor, rich and thick; medium body, well carbonated. A good bit of sweetness if nicely balanced by the burnt malt and some decent hops. This is superbly balanced. Aftertaste is of roasted malt, a touch of sweetness, but generally dry. A very nice Schwartz type. Very well done indeed. Not amazingly complex or original, but very solid.
