Description
Our craft beers are contemporary yet rooted in history and inspired by classic types of beer. You can taste the history of prison town Veenhuizen in our beers. The Maallust beers are artisanal, authentic and brewed with only the very best ingredients. Whether it’s our hoppy blonde Weldoener or the treacherously smooth tripel Zware Jongen; Maallust beers are full of character.

Maallust was founded in 2011. It was initiated by a group of 25 entrepeneurs who call themselves the ‘Zware Jongens’ (Heavy Guys). They not only started brewing in Veenhuizen, they also revived the dilapidated Maallust complex. After a thorough renovation, the brewery opened its doors. Today, the Maallust complex looks marvelous, and its beer is available all throughout the Netherlands. Maallust is the perfect addition to a village with a unique history.

Light brown colour with quick fading head. Aroma and flavour are very malty and have some sweet banana too. Full bodied and flavoursome but too much banana.

Bottle. Amber color. Dusty, slightly vinous caramelly aroma. Malty sweet flavor, full bodied. Raisin and a hint of caramel. Floral notes. Hop flashes. Decent.

This beer confirms that Drenthe actually exists... The last of the Dutch Provinces to offer a beer for me. Bottle at home, dark almost black beer, small head. Aroma is malt, fruit, dark fruit, alcohol, light raisins, black currants, hint of liquorice. Taste is the same, black currants, sweet, hint of bitterness that gets more pronounced at the end, very nice.

Bottle. Golden pour. Aroma of yeast esters, grainy malt, orange and wheat. Taste has lots of dry yeast esters, orange, malt, creamy wheat, grassy bitters and way too much carbonation. Not the best saison.

Bottle. Golden pour. Aroma of yeast esters, malt, coriander, wheat and orange peel. Taste has fresh wheat, yeast esters, orange peel, coriander and a little bitter grassy hop. If I had to guess, I would say this is a witbier. Allright.
