Description
Ridgeway Brewing was established in 2002 by master brewer Peter Scholey (former head brewer at Brakspear) and his wife Vanda. The name comes from the ancient trade route that winds its way through English countryside between small towns. It has been around for thousands of years, adapting with the changing times, The reason why we chose the name Ridgeway, apart from living on it, was that we hope to create lasting experiences, believe in the long term and love the outdoors.

Bought by Crafty Brewing in February 2025.

Pour is a cola brown with almost no head. Aroma is malty and tart. Flavor is very thin malts and almost nothing else. very watery and plane. I agree with most raters that this is very average. Nothing to get excited about here.

A big step down from the regular bad elf, IMO. Lacking a blast of hops, this beer features a toasted malt character, with rounded sweetness that is a little cloying. Hops manifest in a somewhat dirty fashion, being somewhat earthy and showing dirty ashtray. Reminds me in some ways of Fat Tire, but with a bigger malt presence. The finish equally unpleasant, with a stinging palate featuring burnt dry toast and cigarette ash.

A really big spicy hop nose is the first to great you here, with some lemon rind notes as well. Light golden with a fair head. Clean with a sweet yet somewhat bland malt palate, somewhat soapy with lemon rind and resiny hop flavorings skirting all around. Medium bitter finish with a light bite. Light to medium bodied.

500ml bottle. Attractive amber colour with disappearing head. Corn, toffee and hop on the aroma. Caramel and cream in mouth are spoilt by the over carbonation even though this is a live beer. Perfumed hop on aroma and finish is quite nice and the hop finish is quite spicy. Needs more malt.

An amber beer with small particles of sediment floating around, underneath an off-white head. The aroma is sweet with light notes of caramel and hops - I’m thinking Goldings. The flavor is sweet with primary notes of caramel, leading to a well bitter hoppy end.

A hazy orange beer with a huge off-white head. The aroma is sweet and very fruity with notes of oranges and peaches, but also some hints of metal - and the flavor is pretty much like the aroma, but the body is somewhat thin, no wonder at 4% ABV.
