Handpull cask at the Orange Tree, Baldock. Light to mid-brown with a slightly reddish hue. Clear. Only a hint of off-white head. Chocolate, cedar and stone fruit in the disappointingly muted scent. Bitter taste with a hint of sweetness. Gets more bitter throughout the sip, leaving an astringent dryness in the long finish. Some black cherry in the aftertaste. For a beer with such a fancy name, it is certainly a commonplace recipe. It’s fresh and crisp but otherwise mired in the ’boring brown bitter’ category.

Clear golden, light sweet lemon smell. Tangy fruit taste. A touch of hop but it’s mostly the fruit which gets a touch sickly.

Keg and bottle. Clear pale golden body with a thin white head that fades. No visible carbonation. Very faint lacing. Aroma of hay, wet paper and biscuit. Flavour of pale malt, lemon, soap and melon rind. Thin body with an oily texture. Light fizz. Sharp and lemony.

Bottle. Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty vanilla coffee and chocolate aroma. Roasted malty chocolate, vanilla and coffee flavor. Has a roasted malty chocolate and vanilla finish.

Keg @ Birmingham Beer Bash 2016. Pours clear amber, good white head. Aroma brings pale malts, character is definitely in the pilsner camp, nice and sharp with some citrus hop notes. Bit more to it than a standard pils.

Keg @ Birmingham Beer Bash 2016. Pours a lightly misty gold, small white head. Aroma is light apple juice, pale malt. Taste has a nice teasing apple integration, mild citrus hop, easy drinking for the strength. Good effort.

Keg @ Birmingham Beer Bash 2016. Pours clear dark brown. Aroma is rich dark fruits, cocoa, molasses. Taste is hugely satisfying deep fruits, malts, toffee and a well-integrated bourbon presence. Serious stuff. Cannot remember much after this.
