Description
Initially launched in early 2020 as a gypsy brewery, they opened their own brewery in Autumn 2020.
Newbarns is a brand-new brewery, but the team behind it certainly know what they’re doing. McKenzie, his partner Emma McIntosh, Jonny Hamilton and Fred Bjerkseth have an impressive array of experience between them from the likes of The Kernel, Siren and Beavertown breweries

Bottle at home, thanks to the Wingman for sourcing, 23/07/20. Hazed orange with a big old frothy cream cap formed of tightly knit bubbles. Nose is tangerine, stoned fruits, pissy Nelson nostril tickle, light pine resin, papaya. Taste comprises orange pith, white grape skins, pissy Nelson mash, light skunk, soft malts, gooseberries, lychee, peach. Medium bodied, soft massaging carbonation, semi drying close spliced with juicy Nelson cum. Solid quaffable pale ... loads of flavour for the ABV and great hop presence.

Light haze on this paleish gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, fairly dry, decent fine carbonation. Softish malts, a light creamy sweetness. Quite a bright Nelson here, smooth pine, a little bright citrus and a reminder that Nelson used to be a super grapey hop. The finish could be cleaner, quite a pithy tangy bitterness that could be hop dust, and that bitterness lingers long. A decent affair overall though.

Bottle, off a pal. Cheers Mark. Lively pour sits pale gold. Light haze. Bright white foam. Nose has notes of super ripe peach. Creamy malt. Some berry fruit. Taste has a nice balance of sweet malt and pithy bitterness. Light body, drinks well at the ABV. Foamy carbonation. Decent hit of bitterness to finish. Tasty gear.

Can. A gift from a pal. Cheers, Mark. Soft haze on a pale gold. Fine, lasting, white head. Nose has sliced lemon. Cut grass. Creamy malt. Some floral herb. Taste is a tad sweet, with some mineral. A little dryness. Gets lemon pith bitter. Light to medium body. Bright, fine carbonation. Fairly bitter finish lingers a while. Decent enough. Feels a bit at odds.
