Enjoyed at gabf 2014. It pours with a mahogany colored body that has copper edges and supports a thin tan head of foam. The aroma offers up tart fruitiness as well as sweetness that has a molasses and brown sugar like sense to it. The taste delivers a pleasing mix of molasses and brown sugar and tart sort of cherry fruitiness. This is surprising drinkable, balanced and delicious.

Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Airy palate, semi dry with good fine carbonation. Very mild dark malts, soft. The dominant flavour is a nice sherbetty dark fruits, not quite sour. There is also crystallised orange fruits and a little cherry. Running alongside is a good hit of bourbon tang. Airy finish. Really nice contrast of fruits and bourbon and dangerously drinkable.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours slightly hazy deep orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, floral, grass, light pine, and floral/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus hops and dark/bready malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, floral, grass, pine, and floral/toasted earthiness. Fair amount of floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, pineapple, lemon/orange peel, caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, light pine, and floral/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of citrus hops and dark/bready malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice amber ale. All around good complexity and balance of citrus hops and dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Many thanks to Chris for getting this bottle for me! Smooth malty-fresh, nice roast with fresh floral hops. Great smooth and bitter roasted. The aftertaste is nice floral fresh, bitter roasted, long-intense-roasted-floral. Great and nice dry for the 7%!

When I got the bill for this glass, I almost fell off my stool; $9 for a glass WTF? If I would have known, I would have blew this sample off. But I already drank it so what else could I do? Anyway, this has a tart aroma that made my mouth water. Big and black in appearance. Thin head . First taste is mild co2. Yes, this has a wild tart feel to it and make no mistake, this beer means business. Quite strong for a sour beer. A big alky feel from the start. One of the few big wild beers I’ve ever tasted. Those tart attributes make this higher alky strong ale easier to take. Tolerable and be careful. Could easily catch a buzz from two mugs of this stuff. Not worth the money I paid for this one.
