Keg at Top Hops - NYC. Pours clear, rich amber-brown with a creamy beige head. The nose holds a good bit of toasted bread, with aspects of dry toffee, dried fruits, earth. Medium sweet flavor with strong malt foundation, some burnt grains, earth, slight grass, figs, leather, raisins. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Lightly bitter on the finish with notes of burnt toast, dried out fruits, berries. Not bad.

Several samples at Cafe Amsterdam.
The appearance was a hazy burnt brown color with a thin white head that dissipated immediately.
The smell had a light sweet to sour grape up front and then a light cherry entering in with a cooked chocolate malt. Different, interesting.
The taste was mainly malty sweet with a light sour to the aftertaste. There was a dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was there and was good.
Overall, decent dubbel and different. It works, it’s just different.

Bottle. A- Chili peppers, salsa, cocoa, bitter, spices, roasty. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, tan head. T- Chili peppers, cocoa, bakers chocolate, subtle coconut, subtle vanilla, spices, mocha, roasty. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty bitter finish. O- A very interesting concoction. Felt like too many things were going on. You could get all the ingredients they listed on the palate but they didn’t blend all that well. The cocoa should out the most and everything else took a backstage. There was also a huge aroma and some taste of chili peppers which didn’t make much sense. I added a little pure vanilla to mine and that opened things up a little better but still not a beer I was left desiring more for.

On tap at Yardhouse SLP. Pours near black with a dark brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has sweet dark grains with a bit of roasted malt and a good amount of pine. Flavor is much more pine forward backed by roasted malts and dark grains.
