Bottle recommended by Dan of Village Market and Bistro, thanks! Dark hazy brown color, large bright tan head. Aroma of vanilla, candied cherries, subtle background of whiskey. Taste is just very softly sour dark fruit, berries, vanilla, with tannins coming in toward the finish. Pretty tasty.

Bottle. Alcohol, berry/apple and caramel malt aroma. Hazy dark amber with nice light tan head. Sweet light berry, caramel malt and moderately strong bitter herbal alcohol flavor. Good body. Okay but pretty boozy.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 10/24/2014. Pours fairly crystal clear dark brown color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toast, brown bread, light chocolate, herbal, pine, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, light chocolate, light nuttiness, herbal, pine, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Fair amount of herbal/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, brown bread, light chocolate/nuttiness, pine, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Good robustness and complexity of dark/bready malt and earthy hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with a light-moderate warming lingering after the finish. Overall this is a nice imperial brown ale style. All around good complexity, balance, and robustness of dark/bready malt and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A pretty unique tasting malt profile, and I would have preferred less piney hop presence; but a nicely enjoyable offering overall.

Dark brown body with a quickly dissipating tan head. Light aroma of coffee and some light malt. Not much here really. The flavor is lightly sweet, again not much in the way of distinctive flavors. Nothing really bad, just a lot of ingredients that apparently cancel each others flavors out.

Ausbalanciert süßlich hopfiger Antrunk, durch trockene Noten bleibt die Süße gering. Milde, sich aber ausbreitende Herbe, spritzig, hell holzig, der Hopfen wird zum Ende dunkler. Wenig fruchtig. 11/12/11/10/12/11

Bottle shared late night in the hotel lobby during RBWG 2015. Pours Clear brown with a frothy beige head. Lots of toasty grains, dusty cinnamon, toffee. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with lots of chalky cinnamon, earthy hops, toasty grains, mild alcohol. So so.
