Description
For 20 years, Shmaltz championed contract brewing and developed a dedicated cult following for their award-winning HE’BREW – The Chosen Beers® and company tradition, Shmaltz opened its own New York State production brewery in 2013, boasting a 50-barrel brewhouse with 35,000 barrels of annual capacity. Shmaltz brewery packages 12 and 22 ounce bottles and kegs of their diverse core and seasonal favorites. Several new releases and collaborations are on tap for 2016, and Shmaltz will continue their acclaimed barrel-aging projects, utilizing a current inventory of more than 400 bourbon, rye whiskey, and tequila barrels.

12 ounce bottle from Beer Run. Pours a clear dark brown. Viscous looking pour. Thin tan head, fair head retention. Aroma of nuts, raw malt, toasted malt, floral and earthy hops. The taste is caramel, chocolate, nuts, grain, bitter spicy hops. Medium bodied, lingering bitterness, boozy, disjointed.

Bomber from Imbibe Wine. Nose is lightly piney and citrusy with a hint of bubblegum and golden raisins. Clear orange amber with a medium off white head. Flavor is lightly sweet and fruity; actually excellent!

Bottle. Nutty chocolate malt and light alcohol aroma. Dark chestnut with moderate head. Sweet lightly nutty caramel malt and moderately bitter herb and alcohol flavor. Tasty.

4 oz pour on draft at ChurchKey. Dark ruby brown with light tan head. Aromas of roast, toasty notes, light floral, caramel, malt. Tastes of roast, light floral notes, toasty notes, biscuit, light cocoa. Medium body with a dry finish. Almost black IPA-ish.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus and Joes. Dark red-brown color with a medium sized beige head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, bourbon, wood, nuts, (Dutch) "stroop". Taste malts, again "stroop", bourbon, lightly wood, nuts, figs, some alcohol. Full body, decent carbonation.

Bottle @ home shared by benzai. Dark copper colour with a medium to large sized beige head. Smells sweet, malts, figs, dates, rinse appelstroop. Tastes rinse appelstroop, damn sweet, molasses, some alcohol. Full body, soft carbo. Heavy stuff.
