Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a tulip. Medium brown with crimson hues and big beige head. Aroma is dark fruit, medium body, medium carbonation, and some lacing. Taste is dates, figs, brown sugar, some toffee, and other rich dark fruit. Interesting, complex, thirst quenching, pretty easy to drink for the ABV, one of my favorite dubbels.

Opaque dark brown beer, small pale tan head. Nice nose of dark toffee, bourbon and dark fruits. Smooth and airy palate with perfectly pitched mild fine carbonation. Airy rich malts, dark toffee. Good bourbon. a little spicy but not that much heat. Malts cream. Mild dark fruits. Smooth finish. A rich and heady beer, very nice!

Bottle purchased at 7-11 Kittery, ME. Amber color with a small ring of lasting head retention. Aroma is rather nice, fruity yeast with floral and a strong pine undertone.

The sip starts with fruit tones of apple and pears. Throughout the middle is spicy rye and ending with some alcohol without any burn after the swallow. The finish has a blast of sugar and pine hops that produces mild bitterness. Oily/ slick texture over the tongue. Overall not bad but after it warms the alcohol becomes much more noticeable.

Location: Big ass 3L bottle from Beer Culture that I brought to and shared at Dave's BP, 9/27/14

Aroma: The nose is malty and sweet, lots of coconut at first, some chocolate, coffee, spice, etc.
Appearance: Pours a brown color with a smallish tan head and some slight lacing
Flavor: The taste is malty, sweet, and somewhat muddled, lots going on, with a mild bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, fairly smooth, with a solid mouthfeel, and a slightly sticky finish
Overall Impression: First off, thanks to Matt and the rest of the guys at Beer Culture. I'm happy to have won this beer and been able to share it with the fairly large group of beer nerds present. As for the beer itself, it is definitely much tastier as it approaches room temperature. When the coconut starts to fade a little the complexity gets to a more balanced point. Still, it feels like there might be just a bit too much going on here, so it gets a little muddled. Overall though, I really ended up enjoying what they did here.

Poured up on tap at the Papago Hopageddon event where it exhibits a clear gold body that supports a nice looking white head. The aroma offers up a thicket of grapefruit, tangelo and clementine like citrus hop yumminess that yields both nuance and depth. The taste is straight up juicy malt sweetened citrus wow wow. The juiciness quickly gives way to bitter resiny grapefruit and tangerine notes. I love this as it’s juicy from front to back and it offers a wide load of citrus hop bitterness. Solid IPA as this didn’t come across as a IIPA.

22oz wide shoulder bomber pours with a mahogany body that carries deep red hues and supports a weak tan head of foam. The aroma offers up inviting deep chocolate notes wrapped with coffee, vanilla and faint cinnamon. The taste delivers lots of chocolate mixed with coffee rimmed thinly by a chili pepper note. To midway it picks up a sweet mix of cinnamon and vanilla and then a sliver of coconut. It ends with tasty chocolate, vanilla and then thin layers of chili peppers and coffee. Pretty nice.

Batch no. 3. Bottling date of 2/18/14.
This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a nice looking dark brown close to black color with a slim half finger-ed white foamy head that dissipated to a light messy coating around my glass.
The smell had a nice blend of sweet to tart to sour cherries. A light rye spice arises after a bit of warming. A light sweet refreshing booziness came in too.
The taste was balanced between the rye, the sweet, the spice and the tart.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a cherished tart and sweet cherry aftertaste. The alcohol seemed to hide itself nicely.
Overall, sour strong ale? Hey I’d have this again.
