Lightly hazed amber orange ale with a thin lacing off-white head. Doughy malt aroma, a bit yeasty, but hops are long gone. In mouth, pleasant sweet caramel malt, giving way to oxidized notes, a bit phenolic. Some nutty tones are there, and the body is medium. Bought at LCBO.

I used to drink this frequently and to be truthful I never noticed any discernible difference when it had a name change to hooky dark. This best mild was decent enough but overall I felt it to be thin and lacking in flavour, guess what the new one was pretty much the same, mmhh.. Hooky missed a trick there I think.

Drank regularly on cask throughout the county over the years. Dark with a creamy off white head. Whilst I have always found this to consistent and perfectly fine I have to say for me it’s just a bit too thin and lacking in flavour.

Another Hooky beer that I have been drinking regularly throughout my home county for some 20+ years. A big step up from the standard best bitter, and offering considerably more bite, bitterness, hoppy characteristics and more importantly depth of flavour. As far as easy to get Hooky beers go this is usually my beer of choice from them.

Cask frequently in Oxfordshire. A jolly decent quaffing bitter that I have been drinking regularly for some 20 years it is very typical of it’s style, pleasant and refreshing, from a brewery that rarely puts a foot wrong. For those visiting the area I would heartily recomend a brewery visit as it is excellent.
