Sample at the Decatur Craft Beer Fest. Pours dark brown, with a medium, tan head. The aroma is chocolate, molasses, talc, and some earthy hops. The flavor is very sweet, with just a light bitterness. Heavy body, sticky, and syrupy. Overall, this is a mediocre dopplebock, lacking complex flavor or depth.

Draught @ Galaxy Hut, Arlington, VA. Pours hazy very dark brown with nearly no head at all. CleR aroma of chocolate and malt, as is the taste. Subtle, non-aggressive coffeelike and malty aftertaste. OK.

Poured from a bottle dark chocolate brown with a slight head. The aroma is of sherried wood and tastes of chocolate with sweet overtones that lingers as coffee

Bottle from De Molen web shop. Very dark brown color with small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, caramel, some tartness. Taste, roasted malt, coffee, caramel, milk chocolate, sugar. Little bit too sweet for my taste, but overall tasty beer.

From a 12 bottle shared in Avon, NC. Pours a hazy brown with a thick ecru head. Rich caramel malt nose. Very effervescent mouthfeel. Hops kick in big time. Interesting but doesn’t completely work for me.
