Welcome to The Duck-Rabbit Craft Brewery
We are a small packaging microbrewery located in Farmville, North Carolina. We sold our first beer in August of 2004. We specialize in beautiful, delicious, full flavored dark beers. When we brew, we’re happy and we dance. During fermentation, we sing softly to the yeast. Please try our beer and enjoy a taste of contentment!

Location: 12 oz bottle shared by jcos, 6/9/13
Aroma: The nose has roasted coffee, dark malts, and some licorice too
Appearance: This one pours a brown-black color with a small light brown head and spotty lace
Flavor: The taste is fairly heavily roasted with some light sweetness as well
Palate: The body is medium-full, it has a clean feel, soft carbonation, and a dry roasted finish
Overall Impression: This is a very solid example of the style. It has a good roasted malt feel to it, and it works quite nicely as an overall beer. The 10% is quite well hidden here.

On tap at ACBF 6/1/2013 Solid black color. Aroma of chocolate covered cherries with a hint of coconut. Outstanding chocolate fruity flavor with hints of vanilla and sweet smooth bourbon. Thick body with a creamy silky mouthfeel. Incredible beer. Smooth complex and tasty.

Sample at The Taphouse in Hampton. This brew is a clear dark brown color with a medium thick beige head that dissipates slowly. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, hops and citrus. Light-bodied with flavors of grainy malt, hops and a touch of coffee. The finish is sweet with a caramel malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Acquired in a trade, 375ML 2012 vintage
A - Pours midnight black, viscous, no head.
S - licorice and roasted espresso beans
T - Very creamy finish, nice sweetness throughout, lots of roasted barley, sort of peaty with a hint of chocolate.
M - Thick but not boozy or oily
O - A very standard RIS. No flavor really stands out, baseline, would be interesting to put the thick viscous RIS in a bourbon barrel.
