Basic pale lager, a bland wave of rice sweetness and mild esters against a grainy backbone and almost no hop presence. Accessible, I guess, and probably a decent alternative to Asahi when you’re at the sushi restaurant, but otherwise as no-frills as it gets. Drinkable; not much else going for it.

Clear medium golden colour, good frothy white head, fair retention and lacing. Aroma pale malts, lemon, passion fruit, pine resin. Flavour medium sweet and bitter, grapefruit, pine, grass. Bittersweet finish, orange pith, medium body, oily texture, solid IPA.

A find at Seijo Ishii today: Echigo Always a White 5% Cloudy gold with a thick eggshell white head of foam. The aroma is more lemony and eggy than yesterday’s Yo Ho White. My initial impression of it was the flavor was a bit rough, it is growing on me with its zesty crisp citrus though the malt character remains rough and not so well integrated.
