Dark amber color. Fresh piney hops, balanced with a sweet malty nose. Full bodied. Malty start, but decently balanced with piney hop flavors. Mouth is malty sweet. The finish has some subtle bitterness and the hops do linger around for a bit, but I like my Imperial IPAs with a bigger badder bitter finish.

Dark brown color. Sweet chocolately malty nose. Slightly sour, but not really well balanced. Still somewhat enjoyable.

Pitch black color. Med-dark brown head. Rich nose of coffee, dark chocolate and prunes. A good rendition of the style in the nose. Echigo’s ever present house yeast is noticable from the initial sip. Mouth full of dark chocolate, whisky, but there is a somewhat plasticy taste that distracts, but overall it is a pleasent experience. There is also solid bitterness in the mouth. A nice warming sensation as it goes down with a dark chocolate and whisky finish. Very nice, but a bit too carbonated. If this was in cask, this stuff would go off.

Mildly cloudy golden color. Lemony nose with a touch of clove. Light wheaty mouth with lemon and cloves and a refreshing dry finish. Like alot of their beers. Good, but not great.

This is one of those beers that is not only better on tap, but also tries not to offend you too much, but it is well made (if that makes any sense). Med Amber-orange color, peachs, apples, lemons and oranges in the nose. Mouth is hop accented with apples, oranges, peaches and a mildly dry bitter finish.

Dark brown color, weak nose of dark chocolate and whisky.Medium mouth Dark chocolate, a touch of whisky. In the finish the whisky really dominates, with a touch of nuttiness and chocolate. Odd beer as the whisky flavors get stronger while the dark chocolate flavors subsided.

A deep golden color with virtually no head. The body is well developed with some German malts and moderate amounts of hops, but this comes to a crashing finish at the end that is too dry and boring. In fact despite the beer being well made it is simply boring.

Light amber color with a sweet caramel malty nose, offset by a touch of grapefruit. Starts malty, well balanced hops, but lacks a lot of depth.
