Bottled. Near black, no head. Aroma of smoke covered milk chocolate. Dryish and well rounded. Medium bodied and highly complex with careful peaty smoke and lovely cocoa bitterness. A lovely beer!

It claims to be patterned after North American ales, which I can understand, although the strong yeast character makes it somewhat reminiscent of a light Belgian ale as well. Decent hopping, although nothing like in a pale ale, with a strong very fruity yeast flavor and aroma. Decent malt bottom as well. Fruity, with yeast and malt predominately. A decent beer, good and easy to drink, though not wholly interesting or very original.

Very pale yellow with almost no head. Not much aroma. Malty taste, not much to balance it. Simple, and maybe too subtle. Not much there.

ABV listed as 7%. Its just an average beer, nothing that makes it stand out, but nothing that makes you cringe.

On tap at Popeye. Biscuit malt flavor. Dry, hoppy, cereal tasting. Northern German style. Not at all buttery, and with just a touch of fruit. A bit sweet, but mainly dry and bitter hop finish. Slightly malty aroma with hops. Not my favorite pils -- lots of biscuit, but decent.

Can. Brewed by Echigo for Japan Beer. Not sure if it is the same as ’Premium Organic’ or not, but it is packaged without reference to Echigo. Deep golden color, quickly dissipating head. Color nice. Rich malty flavor, cereals and grains, biscuits. A touch of fruit, but mostly big grains. Flavor also big on grain. Sweet, malty, rich, with light hops. Slightly fruity and hoppy finish, just enough to keep it balanced. A bit of lingering bitterness. Overall, malt-centered, like an export. Nothing really special about it, but it certainly is a reliable lager. Good price too.

Draught at their brewpub. Nice and earthy amber ale. From their non-pasteurized bottle: 6/3/7/2/14. Pricey. A rather thin-looking amber color. Malty aroma that is far too faint, with notes of citrus and tobacco. Nice but not enough of it. The same for the flavor, which is rather complex in its malts, but it is just too weak and fades too quickly in the middle palate. There is some tobacco and nuts, and lots of caramel, plus a bit of citrus from the hops, of which the amount is good. The palate was also too light. Good, complex malt, just give us more of it!

From the can. Has rice and also wheat malt. light to medium yellow, rather small head. Slightly sweet, slightly fruity, malt-centered aroma. Ok hopping with a touch a grass and citrus. Rather bland flavor, some honey, some fruit. I prefer an all-malt beer. Can’t say this rice has added anything good to it, though I do detect some wheat. Decent, rather light in body, but not very interesting. Hops too light.
