Sold as Always a Wit in Japan. 7/4/7/3/13 Can from Yamaoka. Hazy bright yellow gold, low head. Nice nose, orange, lemon, coriander, spicy yeast, crackers. Nice orange and citrus, spicy, fruity, touch of ginger, more like a blonde or a saison than a wit, but that probably makes it better. Crisp, bit sweet. Not bad.

Can from the Davis Food Co-op. Pours orange gold with a foamy white head. Aroma actually smells like caramel - like the candy. Not quite medium body. There's a malt/citrus flavor that starts rather clean, but then the caramel comes out in a non-malt way and the finish is somewhat flavorless bitterness. À chacun son goût.

On tap at NRT Airport. Pours clear dark golden with a small off-white head, light lacing. Fruity, mild butter, sharp citrus, mild bitterness. Decent.

50cl bottle from Tagawa Store in Brussels. F: big, white, good retention. C: pale gold, clear. A: light malty, bit rice, bit bready, bit grassy. T: light malty base, bit rice, vaguely caramel, it is rice beer so no such disaster no flaws here yet hardly to be really enjoyed, medium carbonation.

Well, well, I am the third to find this interesting concoction. Can from Seijo Ishii. Nose is black tea, like a lemony earl grey almost, the slightest touch of caramel, and something that approximates tea flavored bubble gum. Interesting reddish-brown, clear, with lace. Again the tea is big up front, but I must say it isn't like the good tea that I drink here every morning. It's like a Japanese or Chinese black tea, all funky and stuff. Quite tannic and astringent. Some citrus and bready malt too. Body is pretty good. Overall, nasty a.f.

Surprisingly nice, caramelly with a bit of lemon in there. Smooth and easy going. Much prefer it to their other recent IPA can. Bit of berry sweetness, something interestingly funky. Good stuff!

Well this was another unexpected find, this time at Seijo Ishii: Echigo Black Tea IPA 4.5% A reddish color with a fizzy beige head that was gone in a flash. Malty but with a floral fruity tea/hop aroma. It kind of makes me think of a Red IPA. It’s not super impressive but at 300¥ a worthwhile cheapie that matches the fall weather.
