35cl can from somewhere in Japan. Pours clear dark caramel brown with a fluffy, but fairly fast dissipating head. Malty and caramelly with mild roasty notes. Fairly sweet and malty, but a fairly nice bitterness in the finish. Quite okay!

A deep dark stout with a thick frothy mocha head. In aroma, sweet chocolate malt with light coffee notes, light vanilla extract, light mineral notes, OK. In mouth, a sweet bitter chocolate with light coffee notes, burned toasts, light mineral notes, grassy hops, OK. Can from Citysuper Causeway Bay, 18HKD.

Can from Foodshow in Tokyu. Drank straight from the can. Aromas of sweet rice and light peach. Taste is similar. Fairly sweet, but still drinkable. Dorada clara y limpia, de un dedo de espuma blanca y fina burbuja. Aroma escaso, herbal. En boca es eminentemente cereal pero no dulce, con amargor moderado. Seca, e insípida.

60cl bottle in a japanese style club in Manhattan, NY, 04.04.2015. Didn’t know this was a rice beer, felt like a lager/pilsener. Pale yellow color, clear, average white head, mild grainy aroma, light body, dry finish. Average.

Can from TOkyu Foodshow in Shibuya. Drank straight from the can. Fruit-forward and sourdough bread nose with some light pepper and malt...some lemon present as well. Taste is pretty similar but as it warms it moves into slight lemon meringue pie territory with wonderful creaminess. Finish is sweet and sour with a hint of pepper on the finish.

Bottle from Brewers Haven. Smells and tastes like an adjunct lager, possible a little light struck funk to go with it. Pale golden with musty grain aroma (rice?). Taste is more grain, export lager quality.

Can from daiei in himonya. Drank straight from the can on the commute home. Light grain aromas with a bit of fruity esters on the nose. Taste of bread and malt with a slight sweet taste. Some fruit as it warms up. Lively carbonation and light body. Crisp and dry finish with a little peppery spike. Not bad.
