Pours pale amber with a lasting large head leaving lovely lacing.Very refreshing aroma, with definate orange peel and blossom, soft phenols and doughy yeast. Very light and summery.Belgian characters are equally noticeable in the flavours, with similar yeast notes and continuing orange peel. Very soft bitterness, the finish is cetred towards the clean alcohol and dryness from high carbonation which goes well alongside the summery lines of the aroma and flavours. An excellent attempt at a foreign style.

Pours black with ruby/copper highlights.Nose shows a lot of sweet crystal, they weren’t joking about the "generous" amounts of specialty malt. Also nice nutty notes and soft roasted hints.Flavours present more dominant roasted malt but includes some harsh notes. Not enough sweet malt (which is wierd considering the aroma).Good carbonation, not too high!

Pours pale gold with a lasting white head.Nose shows potent noble hops, with spicy, grassy and floral notes. Not much malt, but what is there is bready.Flavours are... different. Lots of lemony notes alongside sweet bready malt. Somewhat tangy.Fairly high carbantion does a disservice to the malt.

Bottle, 10C - improved as it warmed. Dark brown with a large frothy beige head that settles, laces and returns with a swirl. Aroma of coffee, mild roasted malt and grass - smells pretty hoppy. Some prunes and rasins too. Quite carbonated mouthfeel. Taste has plain chocolate and coffee with bare hints of dark fruits and dark sugars. Mildly roasted bitter finish also has some ash. Solid but staid. [6 4 6 3 13=3.2] 500ml bottle, 12C. Fresher hops and much lower carbonation. Some licorice. Quite dry at the end. Fairly hoppy porter.

Bottle. Not a bad beer, but too light on the hops for an IPA, in my opinion. There’s some likable caramel sweetness, but without a strong hoppy finish, it’s not very satisfying. Of course, this beer was shipped from New Zealand, so it could be better fresher. As is, I’m not a big fan. Nice look, though - bright copper liquid with a creamy off-white cap. Mouthfeel is smooth. Hops are grass, pine resin, a bit earthy. Malt tastes of rich caramel, but the aftertaste is a bit cloying. Nice label on the bottle.

Nice slightly hazy golden bronze coloured body with some orange highlights, a nice one-centimetre tall off-white head and some super small bubbles rising from the bottom - not many though. Aroma of fresh light hops (low a.a.), some good caramel, a touch of malt and some light apricots. Light-bodied; Sharp potent hop flavour at first, but that only lasts for a second or two, then the malt touches for a second, then fades with a mild sugary sweetness. Aftertaste is slightly bitter, but more malt and caramel comes through than anything else. Overall, a decent beer, but not enough hops to be potent, and more of an APA than an IPA. Still, great to try, and worth sampling if you are an American on this side of the world. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Slowbeer in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on 31-December-2009 for A$5.50 sampled back on this side of the world in Washington on 04-May-2010.
