Having spent the year nurturing and growing our wide range of crops, from sugar beet to oil seed rape, wheat, vining peas and barley, summer arrives and our small team of just three embark upon the annual tradition of harvesting. Come rain or shine, darkness or light, and using a combination of traditional and modern techniques, the job gets done in time for the arrival of Autumn.
Our famous Maris Otter Barley is malted down the road at Crisp Maltings and returned to our state of the art brewery situated within one of the Estate’s ancient farm buildings. The malt is blended with beautifully pure water from our own bore hole and hop varieties from around the world to craft our collection of beers. We are proud to be the purveyors of a “Norfolk born and brewed” product in the very truest sense.
First brewed in mid-2017, having purchased the former Jo C's Ales, sharing the premises with Boudicca Brewing Co.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pale amber, light fizz and a thin white head. Decent mouthfeel for the strength at first but seems to get more watery towards the end. Dusty and twiggy up front before some lemon comes through. Dry and bitter finish. Grew on me, quite enjoyed it in an old school bitter kind of way.

Bottle picked up at the brewery. Clear pale amber. Decent bright white foam. Nutty and husky malt. Whiff of sea spray. Light fruity hop leaf. Bit of a stewed tea leaf thing. Taste is nutty sweet up front with a hefty tea leaf bitterness. Decent body and full flavoured. Ever so slightly astringent on the finish.

Taste is fairly sweet up front with the promised bitterness feeling full on. Plenty of body with high-ish foamy carbonation. Robust bitter finish. Tasty gear at the ABV.

Cask. White Horse Brancaster Staithe. Soft haze on an orange gold. Sparkler (!) induced white foam. Nose has a distinct Norfolk-ness to it. Sweet grain. Sea spray. Flowery hop leaf. Taste has robust bitterness with sweet malts on the lips. Creamy and quaffable. Lingering bitterness to finish. Good golde.
