Draught @ HopDog, Munich. Smooth, slightly smoky and leathery with hints of ham, biscuit, grainy malts and toastiness. Pretty nice.

Dark amber with reddish tinge, small 1cm head fast receding. Nose is the obvious smoked, but not that penetrating, it let's the typical malty, sweet, grassy of the lager through. Together there are vague impressions of caramel. Mouth is disappointing, more smoke than was expected and not enough of the base lager, some sweetness. Quite watery: could strengthen the flavours the underlying beer, but I guess they've been doing it like this for a 100 years. A curiosity and not much more.

Deep brown colour, beige foam. Nose of smoked malts, caramel, some toast, bacon, light irony. When warming up it became a very well balanced Rauchbier. Great! More subtle than the Eiche Doppelbock.

Bottled. Ambery brown colour with a mediumsized off-white head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is smoked wood, mild meaty notes along with some toasted and caramelly notes. Flavour is smoked wood, some tobacco, caramel and mild toasted and herbal notes.

Klar bernsteinfarben mit weißer Schaumkrone. Rauchmalziger, leicht getreidiger Geruch. Geschmacklich rauchmalzig, getreidig mit von Malz und Getreide wunderbar ummanteltem Schinken & Speck. Mittlere Süße mit leichter Bitterkeit, mittlerer Körper mit spürbarer Kohlensäure.

Bottle 55 of 186. Deep brown color with beige head. Aroma is mild peat, considerably less hardcore aroma than the Laphroaig one, good smoke and meat, very delicate. Taste is super balanced between the peat and the woodsmoke, juicy Franconian drinkability, some minerals, pretty dry but with some body. Almost champenoise carbonation. Very good!

Bottle 99 of 207. Beautiful brown color with ruby highlight and a beige head. Aroma is strong iodine, peat, meaty, intense but not overdone. Taste is iodine, peat, umami, but super balanced and drinkable. Dry finish, soft mouthfeel. Very well-done, I would not have expected this!
