50 cL bottle. Pours slight hazy brown with an orange hue and lacing white head. Aroma is solid hoppy, pine and spiced, and with distinct caramel malt base. Flavour starts sweet and soon goes into a distinct hoppy spice note. Has solid caramel malt body. Goes into a light spice lingering finish of hops.

Bottle, 9.2%. Nice hop aroma, tea, grass, bonbon-like caramel. Cloudy brown colour. Big stable rocky tan head. The flavour is nice and hoppy, a lot like the aroma, a little sweet. The finish has a good bitterness, grassy and cleansing. Some alcohol bitterness in the finish, slightly rough, but still good. Good mouthfeel, probably mostly from the sugar.

Bottle, 9.5%. Powerful sweet liquorice aroma, slightly creamy. Black colour. Stable brown head. The flavour is sweet with liquorice and pepper, and warming alcohol. The finish has more liquorice and a little hop bite. Low carbonation, good syrupy mouthfeel. A powerful beer, good for sipping. 7 4 8 4 17
Bottle, 9.5% - eight years later. The flavour starts off with a distinct vanilla note as if barrel aged. This subsides after some sips, though. It is not as sweet as it seems to have been the first time I rated it, unfortunately. It has a slight alcohol bitterness in the finish that perhaps could have been masked by a little residual sugars. Still a great beer, though. 7 3 7 4 16
