Bottle at Kolding Ølmesse. Pours a dark golden, slightly hazy body with a beige head. As expected, the aroma and flavor is more pronounced than in their IPA, both on malts and hops. It’s citrusy and piney, as well as it has a caramel maltyness. The mouthfeel is full and warming, and the finish is long, bitter and hoppy. There’s also a touch of butterscotch in the beer, all the way, and that’s inappropriate. Nice beer though. Rating: 7-4-7-4-15-3.7. (080229)

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orange-copper body with a decent beige head leaving lacings. Pinapple, citrus and pine in the aroma, along with a good sugary, beefstock-like, caramel maltyness. Sweet in the mouth too, perhaps a bit too sugary, but there’s enough bitterness to give it some balance, and enough carbonation to mellow it. Pine, tropical fruit, caramel and a little bready note too. Full body, quite warming. Long, malty and bitter finish with an alcohol bite. I’m not really sure about this one. I think it deserves a higher rating than I gave it the first time, but on the other hand, it’s a bit sweet and warm. It’s one of those beers that I wish I could give a 7.5 on both aroma and flavor. Ended up lifting it only 0.1 point on the overall. (080826)

Bottle at Kolding Ølmesse. A quite clear, golden beer with a white to off-white head. Butterscotch, toffee and a nice citrusy hoppyness in the aroma. Points deducted for too much butterscotch. The flavor has some butterscotch too, but much more subdued. Also some weak caramel flavors, as well as a good piney and citrusy hoppiness. Full body. Quite nice, but the butterscotch level is too high. (080229)

Bottle courtesy of thewolf: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a nice dark brown foamy head with good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of dry coffee with some roasted malt and huge notes of black chocolate is well balance. Taste is a mix between some roasted malt with some notes of black chocolate and some dry coffee. Body is quite full and has a somewhat creamy texture which I appreciated with some good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Probably not the most complex but very well balance with some nice black chocolate notes which I appreciated.

Bottle. (On two occasions). Pours a nice clear, golden body with an off-white head. Piney and citrusy on the nose, with malt and caramel and some beef-stock a little bit in the background. Nice hoppy flavor with citrus and pine, as well as malty flavors. Not as bitter as wished for, but sure bitter. Quite full body, slightly warming and almost astringent from the hops. Long piney finish. A nice beer from a brewer that used to be almost crappy. (080215)

500 ml bottle. Hazy orange body with a firm off-white head. Aroma is complex, fruity, spicy, caramel malt and yeast. Flavor is refreshing, caramel malt, grapefruit, spicy, yeast and a fine bitter finish. This is a fine, complex thirst-quencher, which reminds me a lot about Nøgne Ø God Påske 2008.
