Description
Menabrea is the oldest active brewery in Italy. A top premium brewery, given the melding of three elements: An original beer recipe, quality raw materials and an inherent beer culture.

Birra Menabrea is part of the history of beer in Italy. Founded in 1846 by Mr. Welf di Gressoney and the brothers Antonio and Gian Battista Caraccio, in 1854 the brewery was rented to Giuseppe Menabrea and Antonio Zimmermann, who bought it in 1864. Following the exit of Zimmermann from the company, it was Giuseppe Menabrea who set up the 6 July 1872 "G. Menabrea and sons". At the head of the brewery is Carlo Menabrea until, in 1896, the company passed into the hands of Emilio Thedy and Augusto Antoniotti, husbands of the Menabrea sisters. From that moment on, the Thedy family will lead the company.

In 1991, the company became part of the Forst Beer Group. However, Birra Menabrea retains its strong identity and independence intact. Since 2005 the director is Franco Thedy, the fifth descendant of the family. In 2017, Franco Thedy gave the go-ahead for the expansion of the Brewhouse with advanced features and a spectacular visual impact. Inauguration is scheduled for March 2019.

33cl bottle in Firenze (Florence) in a restaurant with a view on the famous bridge. An ok lager. It was late autumn, maybe it would go down better on a hot summers day

Bottle looks simple, but good. Beer in the glass zippy, small head. Starts mild, modest spicy-hoppy, a bit grasy. Finish well balanced, still mild. Surprisingly good. Thanks to my friends Fiene and Marcel for this one!

Na végre, hogy rátaláltam. Ez volt a legjobb sör amit az olasz út alatt találtam. Gyöngyödző, buborékodzó, frissítő, egy kicsit gösseres. Finom. Ennyi.

Bottled (BBE 01/11, from Estate Wine). Reddish amber colout with mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is caramel, cardboard as well as some slight sweet malts. Flavour is quite much the same with some slight nutmeg mixed in. Already tasted quite strange, so wouldn’t like to know what it is in 3-4 months...

330ml bottle brought back from CR by my wife
Appearance: Pours clear straw/golden with a nice fluffy white head that dissipates some, leaving some light lacing in the glass
Aroma: Skunky while being poured, but mellows out after a few minutes. Honey and grassy
Taste: Malts, grassy, grainy and bitter herbal flavors in the finish that stick around.
OK, be I wouldn’t go searching for it.

Bottle. Pours light copper with a mild white head. Grainy malt aroma with corn and sugar. Flavor is sweet, a bit syrupy and not very bitter. Light to medium in body with average carbonation. Finishes unpleasantly sweet. I don’t mind Pale Lagers but this one really isn’t that good.

Amber with off white head - aroma of caramel - same taste of caramel and malt, lingering malty finish - low hop bitterness and perhaps a littel thin, but still ok
