Description
In 1999 the brewery was established in the ''Commanderie van St. Jan'' in Nijmegen. This 12th century monastery has since been our production location and also the place where beer has been drunk most for years. In Brouwerscafé De Hemel, the 12 taps are always filled with different brewes from Hemel. Beer production takes place in the cellars of the Commanderie.

Draught @ De drie dorstige herten, Utrecht. Clear amber color, medium sized dense white head that leaves fair lacing. Don’t get a lot of aroma. Taste is malts, sweetish, a touch of herbs or spices. Not an IPA by far, but a decent Belgian ale I would say.

Bottle at Bruce’s, thanks to Jacko. It pours lighly hazy deep amber with a small white head. The nose is toast, toffee, ginger, fudge and butterscotch. The taste is gingerbread, earth, good bitterness, mild resin, caramel, alcohol and medicinal notes with a dry, alcoholic fiish. Medium to full body and lowish carbonation. Prett hot. Ok, but nothing special.

25/02/2011 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Note alcoliche un po’ più evidenti. Bel corpo, consistenza oleosa, quasi piatta. Ok.

Bottle thanks to Ansjelaah @ QDT 13. Clear light orange-golden color, no real head. Don’t get much aroma. Taste malts, lightly sweetish and just not much more. Weird, got to be the beer with the least taste ever. Weird.

Bottle shared by Ansjelaah @ QDT 13. Clear amber color, small beige head. Smell and taste malts, smoked malts, lightly bitter. Not bad imo, because it’s only lightly smoked even I can quite easily drink it. Low to medium body and carbonation.
