Description
St. Joseph's Abbey in Spencer, Massachusetts, is home to a community of Trappist monks and the first American Trappist brewery. Following the Benedictine tradition of ora et labora (prayer and work), the monks pursue a simple life of contemplative prayer, manual labor and hospitality. The brewery helps support the monks and their charitable outreach. The brewery, being far into the abbey's land, is not open to the public for tours or tastings.

The aromas are caramel malt upfront with some of the saison yeast, peach in the background. Flavors are very much like nose, more sweet than bitter. Heavier in body than a good saison but good carbonation. Not bad, but it's really hard to find a good saison anymore especially after Dupont dumbed their's down.

The aromas are vinous, caramel malt, yeast, and a little fruit. Flavors are similar to nose, yeast comes through a little more and it's slightly on the dry side also with some bitter. Medium body slightly chalky finish. Lucky to have been able to try one of these beers.

Bottle from Holyart in Roma. Piana sporawa lekko bezowa, trwala i lekko czapowata.

Bottle, 7.2%. Fruity and nicely caramelly aroma. Hazy golden colour. Small frothy white head. The flavour starts off slightly yeasty with a spicy and grassy hoppiness. The finish is caramelly with a good clean bitterness.

Bottle. Pours slightly hazy dark golden with airy white head. Clear aroma of malt, Belgian yeast, and fruit. Bitter, hoppy and grassy flavour with notes of yeast and malt and fruity touches. Bitter and estery aftertaste with acidic touches. Decent. A good Trappist IPA.
