Description
Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station opened May 2013 in Point Loma’s now-historic Naval Training Center. Our newest restaurant venture celebrates the venue’s prior history as a U.S. Navy mess hall, while introducing new industrial and organic features of metal, concrete, reclaimed wood, plant life, water and glass. The restaurant encompasses more than 23,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor dining and bars, as well as a bocce ball court, outdoor cinema space and an 11,315-square-foot garden. True to our philosophy, we support an artisanal, natural approach to food, and are the largest restaurant purchaser of small-farm organic produce in San Diego County. Executive Chef Rich Sweeney offers an eclectic and creative menu of world-inspired cuisine, and our bar features 40 taps of exceptional craft beers, including Stone year-round and special releases and beers from other small breweries.

Cask at GBBF 2015. It pours deep brown - black with a bubbly beige head. The nose is bitter - sweet, dark fruits, fruit cake, light spice, orange peel, gingerbread and light spice. The taste is bitter - sweet, burnt roast, charred wood, candied peel, cocoa, spicy, burnt rubber, chewy malt and some alcohol heat with a dry, burnt finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. A bit rough around the edges. Charred and a little burnt. So - so.

Poured up on tap at the Library Station brewpub where it exhibits a dark mahogany colored body that supports a light tan head. The aroma offers up tangerine and ripe clementine citrus hops as well as some pineapple that blends with some earthy dark roasted malts and a bit of black licorice. The taste is pineapple and sweet citrus juicy hops that are forward and leading into thin ribbons of dark roasted malts and coffee. To midway a pleasing earthy malt note joins in as the roasted malts grow toward the finish. Solid black

Poured up on tap at the Library Station brewpub where it exhibits a clear gold body that carries copper core and supports a thin white head. The aroma offers up flowery lavender like notes and then sage and rosemary like spices and then a little pepper and salt at the end of the draw. The taste delivers bold herbal coking spices and flowery notes. Crazy. I think I get some mild salt and pepper notes as well. Wow. The more I drink the more this is working for me. Cool experience.
