Description
Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station opened May 2013 in Point Loma’s now-historic Naval Training Center. Our newest restaurant venture celebrates the venue’s prior history as a U.S. Navy mess hall, while introducing new industrial and organic features of metal, concrete, reclaimed wood, plant life, water and glass. The restaurant encompasses more than 23,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor dining and bars, as well as a bocce ball court, outdoor cinema space and an 11,315-square-foot garden. True to our philosophy, we support an artisanal, natural approach to food, and are the largest restaurant purchaser of small-farm organic produce in San Diego County. Executive Chef Rich Sweeney offers an eclectic and creative menu of world-inspired cuisine, and our bar features 40 taps of exceptional craft beers, including Stone year-round and special releases and beers from other small breweries.

Cool beer. On draft at the Holiday Ale Festival. Pours a black color with a medium beige head. A big spicy and milky lactose nose. The flavor is well made: bitter hops mix with aggressive spicing, some toast, sweet vanilla and cocoa. Very nice brew. A bit complex, but the core chai and lactose flavor is solid.

On tap at Stone Liberty Station, pours a hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma of smoked malt, some chilli peppers, and rye-like hops. Flavour brings out medium strength smoke above anything, drowning out any IPA-like character. Pretty smoky - not that elegant, but fairly enjoyable. Decent.

Growler from Stone World Bistro & Gardens in Escondido. This beer pours a clear dark amber color with a medium foamy light beige head that diminishes gradually to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of dark fruit, malt and caramel. Medium to full body with flavors of earthy malt, caramel and dark fruits. The finish is malty with a peaty aftertaste. Decent overall.

4.9% tap pour at Stone Liberty Station into a tall tulip glass where it exhibits a dark body that has thin mahogany edges and supports a tan head of foam that leaves behind sheet lacing. The aroma is nice and roasty with dark roasted malts mixing with pine hops and a thin citrus hop note. The taste is similar with dark roasted malts, pine hops and a touch of citrus hops that adds a pleasing depth to the sessionable brew. It comes across fresh and snappy and the hops create a dangerously sessionableness out of the experience. Loved it.
