Pizzeria Paradiso Dupont in DC on cask: pours musdy brown with a loose cask head. Aroma is figs, caramel, light earthiness. This beer very simply takes a good altbier (which is better on cask than the bottle) and adds figs to it, which is an excellent combinayion. That said the fruity addition is not overbearing. Nice balance. Great session.

This drinks really nice. Lotsbof candied apple and pineapple. Very fresh hops. Amber pour. Sweet and bitter finish. Lots of character. Tap at Red Apron.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a bright yellow-gold color with an enormous creamy yellow-white head that lingered forever and left great lacing. The aroma was dryish, citric and perfumey. The flavor was dry, tart and citric with some perfume and chalk. Long finish. Lightish body. Disappointing.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a slightly hazy pale yellow color with a medium sized foamy white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was sourish with notes of cardboard and phenol. The flavor was sour and tart with vinegar, wheat, yeastiness and a lactic note. Long finish. Medium body. ok.

Cask pour at Churchkey, finished w/ ginger & chocolate. Dunkelweizen doesn’t care as well as a cask pour, resulting in a dull pour. Ginger dominates the aroma, softened by a bit of chocolate sweetness. Additives add some flavor, but hard to tell what the underlying brew would taste like. Slick body, ginger lasts through to finish. Don’t mess with the Reinheitsgebot.
