12 ounce can I got from a good buddy...Robert A. Thanks!
I could smell the pine as soon as I pulled the tab on the can. It’s a slightly hazy honey gold colour with a firm 1" head of foam. It started off bigger but refuses to get smaller.
Smell? I already covered that above. ;^)
The taste is as piney as any I’ve had in a Pale Ale with more than a hint of some tropical fruit going on in the background. I get a bit of bready malt but nothing that I would remotely call sweet. As in sugary sweet, not as in sweeeet, this brew is good.
Perfecto mouthfeel, this is one heck of a delicious hop forward Pale Ale! --- Beer merged from original tick of Duckpin Pale Ale on 25 Dec 2014 at 11:25 - Score: 9. Original review text: Hot damn, Robert, this is an excellent Pale Ale! Cheers and Merry Christmas to ya!

Cask at Churchkey. Poured a smooth black color with a foamy brown head. Aroma was lots of roasted malts, dark chocolate, but all pale in comparison to the coffee ground notes. Roasted malts, dark chocolate and coffee dominate the flavor. Kinda liked it, but not as complex as the base beer.

Location: 12 oz can from a Harris Teeter in Baltimore, 11/11/14
Aroma: The nose has citrus and tropical fruity notes, some pale malts, and a little pepper/spice
Appearance: Its orange in color, mostly cloudy, with a small off-white head and mid-heavy lace
Flavor: Clean and hoppy, with some fruity flavors, a light sweetness, and a clean, mid-bitterness
Palate: The body is light-medium, pretty easy drinking, with average carbonation, and a dry finish
Overall Impression: I picked up a 6-pack of this for the hotel room, and it made for a nice, drinkable pale ale. Didn't finished the whole pack, so I saved this one for a real time rate. I enjoyed this.

Location: Draft at World of Beer - Baltimore, 11/2/14, Rating #4040
Aroma: The aroma is floral and a little citrus, with some light spice, and light roast
Appearance: It has a black pour with a beige head and some fairly heavy lace
Flavor: Component-wise, the flavor is similar to the nose, it is lightly sweet and light bitter
Palate: This one is clean and easy drinking, soft and smooth, dry and roasty finish
Overall Impression: 4040: Double Perfect Vision! Is that the perfect version of the double vision you get from drinking 4040 beers? We may never know. My first beer from Union, and I actually found it to be pretty enjoyable. Glad to have tried this beer, it is pretty tasty.

Met my low expectations. On the edge of being a pale lager, aroma is mostly cereal grain. Taste also very grainy, bland, slightly metallic.
