Draft pint at Crios Modern Mexican. Poured a dark, slightly hazy orange color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was light citrus notes, with some good wheat backing to it. Flavor is nice grain, wheat notes, but with a blast of citrus hops. Juicy. Enjoyable.

Cask pint pour at Crios Modern Mexican for a DC Brau/Union SAVOR week tap takeover. Poured a slightly grey, completely hazy yellow color with a small white head. Aroma was light tartness, some funk, lime notes. Slight hint of mescal, but other characteristics cover it up and I’m not an expert on mescal to begin with, so... anyway, nice enjoyable light tartness, lime zest, salty. Pretty darn refreshing.

Not hugely reminiscent of other altbiers I’ve had, but ok for a easy-to-drink session beer with a little taste of interesting barley. Pours brown with ok head and lacing. Finishes with light bitterness. Palate a little watery. Can.

Tap at Maxs. 4/27/14. 2012 vintage. Rusty beige head on top of a thick black body. Quite and excellent Stout. Malty, doughy, some really pleasant chocolate tones. Nails it. Really has aged well. Slight warming. Big and nice.

Tastes a little better than rated for me but this was just the random after work beer I had around the corner from work. It ended up good though. Nice citrus hips profile here. Pours orange with decent head and lacing. Average bitter finish, average carbonation. Can.

Rich deep amber coloured body with a light brown, copper and even ruby-tinted bronze glow, all with a single centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, cardboard, rice, nuts, earth and a bit of grain. Medium-bodied; Assertive rice and grain flavours with a bit of a bitterness from the malt and toffee, a hint of caramelised sugars and a touch of herbal notes at the end. Aftertaste shows mostly malt and grain notes with only earth coming through. Overall, a fairly one-dimensional beer that shows some decent qualities, but doesn’t have enough complexity or depth to be considered great. I sampled this twelve ounce can purchased from Whole Foods in Foggy Bottom (I Street) in Washington, DC on 25-October-2013 for US$2.49 sampled at home in Washington on 22-February-2014.

Can thanks to a trade! Pours a clear deep yellow with a white head that dissipates quickly to the edges. Aroma has notes of grain and bread with grassy hops coming through. Flavor is similar with lots of grass and grains with a bit of a sweet bread note.

Draft at the brewery. Poured a dark, almost cola color with a brown head. Aroma was roasted malts, bitter coffee character with some light pine. Flavor was nice citrus, with some coffee, roast. Easy drinking.
