Notes from June 2009 750 shared this past weekend by Yobs, the pickle man. :) Hard pour into my Yards tasting mug. A muddy black, with dark tan lining of head. Smell is of prunes, Wild Turkey, blood, & sawdust. Fumey macerated bread crust & cheap cocoa. Taste is much better. Gentle whiskey, sweet cereal, mellow coffee grounds, a fitting slice of barky bitterness, & a moderate dose of warming alcohol. Subtle, dark, cooked fruit. Finish is a little dusty, but didn't detract much from the whole picture. Average body & carbonation & none of the expected barrel acidity. Soothing. A rarity when I praise something in this style. Very tasty. :)

Tap. Pours clear yellow, small white head, decent lacing. Aroma of grass and grain, a bit skunky, honestly. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter. Light plus body. Meh.

Cask at GBBF 2016, Day 1 - London. Pours clear black-brown with a foamy, off-white head. Rich chocolate in this one, with some mellow roasted malts, bread, toffee. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Good, forward chocolate character in the finish. Really nice.

Cask at GBBF 2016. It pours black with a tiny tan head. The aroma is rich roasted maltage, meaty, some smoke, umami and liquorice. The taste is rich, roasted malt, earth, toast, liquorice, chocolate, slightly syrupy, treacle, dark fruits and salted liquorice. Medium body and soft carbonation. Maybe a touch sweet, but overall pretty decent.
