Cask @ Diggers, Edinburgh [240913]
Blonde, clear, dense white head, touch of lacing
Aroma - Pale malts, touch of toffee. slightly buttery, touch of that Deuchars nose I don’t like - scorched popcorn, poor aroma
Taste - Soft bitter cereal malts, slight hint of citrus, soft biscuits, bit buttery, bit metallic, dull, nah
Palate - Light body, bit watery. Finish is dry, biscuit linger
Overall - Not impressed, dull, reminds me of Deuchars which I dislike....poor. Didn’t finish the pint. Not for me

Cask at The Southern. Pours hazy pale gold with a decent white head. Aromas of light caramel and citrus hops. On the taste has a good balance of bitter and sweet, with a final light sour note that reminds of what Deuchars used to taste like. Light-bodied, thin-texture, good clean finish. Nice session beer.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. It pours dark brown (nr. black) with a medium beige head. The nose is roasted malt, coffee, earth, light sweetness, vanilla, marshmallow, rock road and caramel. The taste is roasted malt, coffee, toast, earth, light acidity, plum, prune, light stickiness and brown bread with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Smooth, tasty and well-balanced. Good stuff.

Moderate roasty malt finish, some dry coffee, dirt, char. Decent.

Bottle from Oddbins London Bridge drunk at home. Clear orange gold colour lasting beige head. Toffee on aroma. Eeek is it supposed to taste like this? A bit musty. Vague hop on end. Musty finish. Bad bottling? Or just a not very nice beer? Drain pour to be honest.

(Bottle) Black or near-black beer with a beige head and a sweet, toasty-malt aroma. The first taste is a malt and hop mix but it’s a dry, fruity finish that makes it. The fruit lingers nicely too.

Aroma: Weak aroma of citrus, wood and pale malt.

Appearance: Clear amber body with a medium white head that slowly fades. No visible carbonation. Good lacing.

Taste: Summer fruits - strawberry and peach - with flavours of grain and caramel. Low bitterness.

Palate: Thin body with an oily mouthfeel. Flat carbonation.

Overall: A reasonable beer but not one I’d seek out to have again.
