Almost opaque dark brown beer, good tan head. Palate is light and minerally crisp. Tangy dark malts and tangy dark chocolate. Little chicory coffee. Malt cream. Finishes light with an almost appley tang. Not bad.

On cask at the Standing Order. Appearance - hazy golden with a proportionate head. Nose - lemon and toffee. Taste - more toffee over lemony malt. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - a very traditional style pale ale. Modern ipa fans may find the toffee slightly unexpected. But it’s good.

Cask at Cloisters. Pours clear golden amber, thin white head. Light soapy floral hop aromas, some malt, touch of butterscotch. Taste is more floral hop bitterness, caramel sweet at the end. Nice enough.

330ml bottle Appellation Wines. Pours clear chestnut brown, no head. Aromas are dark sugar, roasted nuts, light smoke. Taste has a dark chocolate sweetness, more sugar, and light herbal bitterness. would like to try on cask, but a bit disappointing bottled.

Cask at Cloisters. Rich dark pours, thick tan head. Big roast and chocolate aromas, vanilla in there, creamy too. Taste is more, with a building fruitiness, finishing dark chocolate and roast malt. Really enjoyed this - worth seeking out on cask.

Appearance- clear, dark brown, not much head at all- just some slightly off-white bubbles. Aroma- lots of toffee going on, bit of malt, hint of chocolate, bit of fruit cake. Nice smelling. Taste- quite full and deep, rich flavours, caramel and toffee, hint of treacle, brown bread, definitely some yeastiness there. Medium to full bodied, not too much bitterness, finish lasts for a bit. Very nice.

On cask at Three Judges, Glasgow - Chestnut brown body with a lacing white head. The nose is a malty treacle, coffee and chocolate aroma. Medium bodied with a malty chocolate style taste, one for a session I’d say.

Cask at the Guildford. Pale gold pour, thin white head. Light lemon and dusty malt aromas. Taste reminds of a stronger Deuchars. Ok.

500ml bottle. Gold amber colour, foam white head leaving some lacing, and aroma of caramel & light citrus. Taste is crystal malt, caramel, alittle earthy & biscuity, with some citrus bitterness. Watery mouthfeel, light bodied, medium carbonation, dry light bitter finish. OK.
