Bottled at Horsens Beerfestival. It poured black, with a tan head. Port-like aroma with dried fruits, mould and alcohol. It has a wonderful lagered flavor with dried fruits, alcohol, port, alcohol, mould and cobwebs. Full-bodied and sweet. Long finish with dried fruits. Absolutely lovely. Rating: 8-4-9-5-17-4.3. 061028
Bottle, 75cl, at Cardinal. It pours a black body under a small, tan head. Oxidation, coffee and chocolate and hints of vinegar on the nose. Molasses notes and some alcohol too. The flavor follows the same path, with a good warmth to support the dark, roasted flavors. Full-bodied. Oxidation and roasted malts in the finish. A lovely one, but not as lovely as I remembered it. Hope to visit another bottle in the future. 090728

Bottle. Dark brown / black color with virtually none head. Nice nose, clear more warmer and mature then the regular Dark Island, the whisky shows very soft and mixes perfectly with the malty aromas. Long warm finish with lots of power, fruity pleasant aromas of berries, dried figs and prunes. Little carbonation, slightly bitter and a bit thin in texture. I must say as "henrikb" it is a very good idea to age the Dark Island in Whisky barrels, the beer has really gained from it.

Bottle. Strong black cherry and toffee aroma - excellent. Cloudy opaque reddish brown with small head. Initially nice smooth port flavor that fades into a toffee flavor with cherry notes. Light taste. Sweetness throughout without cloying. Excellent.

Cask/gravity at The St Albans Beer Festival 28 Sep 06. Yellowish coloured. Unclear. No head. Aroma of wet paint with fruity hints. Quite dull.

Bottle. Black color with a nice creamy head. Aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Mild but great flavour with a lot of roasted taste, ends up a little bitter.

Bottle. Rich ruby color with a decent off-white head and the tiniest amount of lacing. The aroma is a little woody with dark fruits and a hint of spice. The taste is malty with some candy sugar notes. Dark fruits and nice alcohol, even a hint of chocolate ?

Cloudy, pale yellow body. Short lived foam. Mix of citrus and malty aroma. Fresh juicy fruit flavour (orange and mandarin) with hints of grain. Light, but well rounded (Half on gravity at The 11th St Albans Beer Festival, 28.09.2006)

Bottle Pours out a redishbrown topped with a very small off white head. I picked up some very good spice and sweet malt on this one pretty good.

Pint on cask. Deep ruby dark with brilliant clarity. Dense and creamy off-white head. Rich malty aroma. The initial flavour starts with fresh flowers and turns into caramell with supporting fruitiness and bitterness. Well balanced. A pleasant surprise! (Served in well keptt condition at Ye Old Mitre, Holborn 20.09.2006).
