Description
Four Winds joined the burgeoning BC craft beer scene and opened their doors to a public thirsty for new local offerings on June 1, 2013. Owned, operated and built from the ground up by the Mills family and friends, we are inspired by the Four Winds in gathering flavours from around the world to create our unique West Coast and European styles. We take great pleasure in the application of new world innovations while staying true to old world techniques. Motivated by the limitless potential of beer, as well as the great brewers who came before us, we aim to craft bold beers with character, depth, and balance.

Bottle: Poured a hazy pale yellow color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and some good amount of lacing. Aroma of tart notes which are very balanced against light fruity notes and some dry floral hops notes. Taste is also a well-balanced mix between some light fruity notes with some dry floral hops notes and some tart notes. Body is full with good carbonation. Loads of very delicate and complex flavours that are well balanced and the overall beer is still very much drinkable.

Cask special. Medium brown with bubbly cask head. Aroma has fruitiness and a fair bit of fir tip. Fairly strong both in alcohol and fir, a bit pungent. Ok. A bit sticky when served on cask - 6% beers don’t handle cask that well.

First year, vintage bottle like maybe 10 years old. This blew up. The cork went into fucking orbit. So it's beige and a bit murky, with a thin head. Light tartness, seems wheaty, still a fair bit of stone fruit. The hop is totally gone, leaving some juicy fruit, and a vibrant body. It's still pretty good. 7-2-8-4-15 = 3.6 2016. They’ve scaled this up, so tweaks have been involved. Had the new one on tap at the Cascade Room. Hazy amber, not much head. Aroma is quite apricotty, light acids, and a touch of hop. On the palate, great balance between the fruit and floral, berryish hop. Mellow tartness to balance the sweetness. Balance remains exceptional...tbh still one of the best beers in BC. 2015 rating. Cloudy, thin head. Big nectarine aroma, sweet, tart, fruity, honeyed. All kinds of flavour, a big hit of fruit, sweet and, well, nectary honey and floral notes. Superb tart balance, just enough to cut the sweetness. Near perfect, one of the absolute best beers to ever come out of BC. 9-4-9-5-18 = 4.5

Light murky tan. Touch of spiciness, and a dash of citrus. The taste is bigger, with the same character...a more juicy citrus character. Nice...refreshing.
