Description
Four Winds joined the burgeoning BC craft beer scene and opened their doors to a public thirsty for new local offerings on June 1, 2013. Owned, operated and built from the ground up by the Mills family and friends, we are inspired by the Four Winds in gathering flavours from around the world to create our unique West Coast and European styles. We take great pleasure in the application of new world innovations while staying true to old world techniques. Motivated by the limitless potential of beer, as well as the great brewers who came before us, we aim to craft bold beers with character, depth, and balance.

Draft - With strawberry syrup - Light strawberry and rhubarb with some soap. Cloudy orange pink. Tart rhubarb with some nice acidity and strawberry finish. Without strawberry syrup - Finish becomes very tart and dry, to much so for me. The sweetness of the syrup and strawberry balances it out and adds some complexity.

On tap at the Four Winds Pop-up Restaurant event, pours a cloudy golden with a small white head. Nose is quite salty, with medium pepper notes, and light citrus tartness. Flavour is similar, bringing out notes of pepper and citrus tartness upfront - with mild saltiness in back. Well-balanced, citric and drinkable. Very good.

On tap at the Four Winds Pop-up Restaurant event, pours a cloudy opaque golden orange with a small white head. Nose is very spicy, with lime, coriander, and some citrus. Flavour is very fresh and fruity, with lots of citrusy lime, light spicy coriander, and mild tartness. Really well-integrated. Not my favourite style, but this is well done and more interesting than a regular wit. Decent.

On cask at the Four Winds Pop-up Restaurant event, pours a dirty dark brown with a small off-white head. Nose is loaded with spruce, wood, piney hops, and some anise. Flavour is strange, with strong spruce, anise and hoppy woody notes. Not bad, just not to my taste. Too woody - it becomes rather abrasive.

On tap at the Four Winds Pop-up Restaurant event, pours an opaque cloudy peachy orange yellow with a small white head. Nose brings out loads of fresh passionfruit, with a touch of tartness. Flavour is juicy and fruity and only lightly tart - lots of passionfruit, light citrus and medium tartness. Perfectly balanced and wonderfully drinkable. Excellent.
