Description
Crux is a crossroads, an intersection, the heart of something. In brewing it's that pivotal point where fermentation happens and anticipation mounts.
We’re Crux Fermentation Project— housed in a former AAMCO Transmission Plant and inspired by our location right in the heart of Bend, Oregon. Our brewery is a one-of-a-kind, built for non-traditional brewing methods like decoction mashing, open fermentation and barrel aging, and for leveraging the limitless possibilities that wild yeast strains and experimental hops present.

Pours hazy golden with a one finger cream white head with good retention. Aroma has notes of pine, grapefruit, crackery malt. Taste is highly bitter backed by that crackery malt, finishing dry. Harshly carbonated.

12 oz can from a six pack at Kroger. A fun new addition to this year's NA lineup for me. Year 6, and I'm certain the NA brews just keep improving. Clean copper golden appearance, plenty of loose foam head. Soft orange like nose. Refreshing taste, and less recognizable is an NA than most of its counterparts. Warm weather, flavorful, ultimately sessionable IPA. Solid product.

Can from The Beer Mongers, Portland. Aroma is fruity hops, citrus, mosaic hop, orange, mildly sweet, grainy malt, citrus, bread, tropical, mango. Flavour is mildly sweet and fairly bitter. Body is medium. A little more sweet than typical for IPA from this area, it has a great balance and smoothness with a superjuicy aroma. Excellent.

Bottle from Beer Republic. Aroma is vinous and oaky with bretty funk, notes of red wine, citrus, apricot, fleshy fruits, lemon, bready/grainy malt. Flavour is tart with a mild sweetness, modest sourness. Body is medium, you don't really taste the high abv, but there's a certain sense of heaviness. Not as sour as I like, but pretty complex with a lot going on.

My 1,500th brewery. 500ml waxed bottle from Tavour. Jet black pour. Finger-high creamy tan head. Deep roasted malt aroma is redolent of molasses and dark chocolate. First sip brings notes of bittersweet roasted malt, dark chocolate and molasses. Incredibly rich, strong and bitter. Added flavors of oak and dried dark cherries. Finishes intensely bitter with notes of strong espresso.

12oz can from Boise Co-op. Cloudy amber/golden pour, foamy white head. Light citrusy aroma, oranges. Taste falls flat, light malty flavors that disappear quickly. Started great, ended meh.
