Draft. Golden beer with a cream colored head. Tart and yeasty aroma with green apples. Tart, summer fruit flavor with yeast and light spice. Medium bodied. Tart and green apples linger with light acetic notes, light yeast, and light malt.

Huge, foxy brown-beige head over black beer with a reddish hue. End of bottle full of fat UFO’s. Very fruity nose, fruity esters, some (milk)chocolate, even a smell as from cola, spiced. Bitter, roasted flavour, even carbonised, burnt. Finish has the spices returning, with some suppressed restsweetness. Burnt treacle. Well-bodied, quite slick. Way too burnt for my taste.Earlier Rating: 11/26/2009 Total Score: 3.6Small, dark-cream head, fading over dark-brown beer. Amandine, dark, but sweet chocolate and an impression of bitter almonds; other tasters speak about aniseed and liquorice. Sweet-bitter flavour with the above aromas petering out into the taste. Sweetness is a bit molasses-like, but nowhere cloying. Nice, if not really my favourite flavourprofile. Kerst 2010 version Very huge yellow-beige head, slowly receding with lace over veiled dark red-brown beer. 4/5 Roasted, bit meaty nose, esters and a tad of liquorice; further some dark green winterleaf as aucuba or holly. 7/10 Bitterish-roasted flavour, richer impression at first, but with a remarkable thinnish finish. More roasted, but here at last a hint of sweetness. Spices are obvious, but individually unrecognisable. 7/10 As said, remarkably meagre bodied for a 10 ABV beer. Sharp spicy-biiter aftertaste, long hereafter finally alcoholwarming. 3/5 Fundamentally different from the 2009 version - the new brewery? 13/20 TOTAL SCORE: 3.4

bottle@GBF 2011: dark brown with a tan head, rather dull, slightly sweet & bit dry with toasted malts, nuts, some herbs & touch of dark fruits, kind of light, not bad but certainly not exiting either – not sure whether I got the Proef or the new version

Sampled from the tap at bangers and lace. Pours a clear gold with a slight yellow hue Andalusia white head that dissipates nearly completely. Aroma is full of a combination of sweet grains, caramel and a bit of sour light fruits. Flavor stars sweet with cereal and caramel and finishes with sour light fruit and apple.

Bottle, at Bier Central. A hazy one, golden-orange in color and topped by a dense, off-white head. Slightly geuze-sourish on the nose, with a distinct fruity and sugary-sweetness. Peaches and lemon. The flavor is sweet, but with a nice underlying lemony sourness. Some alcohol and spicyness too. Full-bodied and tasteful. Lasting finish. An unusual blend, but nice indeed. 110429
