Description
The former name was brewery De Brouwketel, which was in operation at the current location at least from 1706 onwards. In 1884 the brewery became the property of the Duysters family. In 1968 the company was transformed into Duysters NV (limited liability company) which was active as a brewery until 1973.

The Loterbol brewpub started in 1995 in a renovated part of the brewery from the 18th century. in 2002 brewing started in the old brewery building of 1908. Both locations are still used for brewing.

375 ml bottle. Pours amber with full head. Aromas of barnyard and citrus. Flavors of bitter citrus/limes, light funk, and light malts. Acrid but incredibly refreshing. Great stuff.

Dense, quite stable cream-coloured head with a pinkish sheen over cola-coloured beer. Rich, nutty, dark malt’s nose. Som woody and chocolaty features. There seems to be iron in the head. Rich flavour & texture, with alcohol, fusels, chocolate, wood and woodstainer. Sweet with a bitterish edge. Faint blue cheese notes. Finish is quite balanced. Serious alcoholwarming; spritzy MF, but thick & voluptuous at the same time. Quite good strong ale!

Golden colour, yeast chunks, white head. Aroma of Madeira, raisins, smells much older than the 3 years it has. Sweet flavour, malts, raisins, peperkoek. Sweet finish, Madeira. Interesting, but expected something different from the Orval yeast.

8/III/14 - 33cl bottle from Diesters Bierfestival 2013 @ Emelisse brewery (Kamperland) - BB: n/a, 2010 vintage (2014-258)

Little cloudy light beige beer, big off-white big bubbled head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: very oxidized, port, some honey, sweet, marzipan. MF: lots of carbon, medium boyd. Taste: oxidized, bit sweet, some marzipan, very nutty. Aftertaste: oxidized is still the keyword, honey, some orange peel, bit sugary. Tastes like a 10 year old beer, instead of a 4 year old. The brett yeast did not do a good job here, I guess.
