Description
The former name was brewery De Brouwketel, which was in operation at the current location at least from 1706 onwards. In 1884 the brewery became the property of the Duysters family. In 1968 the company was transformed into Duysters NV (limited liability company) which was active as a brewery until 1973.
The Loterbol brewpub started in 1995 in a renovated part of the brewery from the 18th century. in 2002 brewing started in the old brewery building of 1908. Both locations are still used for brewing.

[10/9/13] Bottle at my hotel room in Brussels. 2012 bottle. 10.6%. Hazy golden with a white head. Funky aroma, yeasty, oaky, with some leather, vinegar notes and some fruitiness. Sour and slightly bitter flavor, yeasty, oaky, somewhat alcoholic, with a bit of vinegar, brett, some sweetness, malt, fruits, honey notes, a bit of caramel and a slightly spicy finish. Medium-bodied, lively carbonation. Good.

(bottle, 37.5cl, vintage 2012) Cloudy, golden colour with a blond and short foamy head. Slightly yeasty and mildly malty nose with present notes of grassy hops, accompanied by a touch of cellar/horse blanket and traces of alcohol. Mildly bitter and slightly sour flavour, medium to full bodied with a surprisingly flat carbonation. Yeasty, pale malty and mildly sour-fruity taste with notes of citrus and a mouldy cellary touch, accompanied by drying grassy hops; mildly bitter and delicately sourish tart finish with mouldy notes and a tinge of citrus and alcohol shining through. Interesting hybrid beer. 06.X.13

375ml bottle. Poured a carbonated, straw color with a fizzy off-white head. Aroma was some light citrus, sugar notes, touch of funk tartness. Alcohol is certainly here - there’s no reason for this abv as it would be far more enjoyable to consume I think, with it’s light tartness and whatnot if it were lighter. Ah well.

24/VIII/13 - 33cl bottle @ Bierweekend Lambiekstoempers (Alsemberg) - BB: n/a (2013-801) Thanks to T. for sharing today's beers!
Clear deep purple brown beer, big creamy beige head, pretty stable, non adhesive. Aroma: caramel, dried fruits, some banana, toast. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sugary, raisins, hops, caramel, some mocha, toast, bit of banana. Aftertaste: lots of dried fruits, alcohol noticeable, little metallic, bit of mocha, toast, pretty hoppy finish. Nice one this, best beer of the entire day! (Which were only new ones or hard to finds, of course. I'm sure the lambic beers were even better ;-)

33 cl. bottle @ home. Procured from Willems. BBF 05/2015. This brewery is really everything that one could wish from a very small Belgian brewery. Solid, outstanding beer, something to set them apart, good price, excellent quality, standard offerings plus one or two specials, … whereas most breweries of their size put out infected, crummy beers which are dull and unimaginative at best. Bright opaque orange with little fungus looking white head. Smell is overripe oranges, esters, hay, sweet BE yeast, light caramel, mandarins, touch spices, bitter old yeast type stuff,… Taste is sweet caramel, thick BE yeast, plaster, slightly fruity, light bitter spices, touch esters, zest light pepper,… Malty body, med. slightly lively carb. This one is far from unique but it has no flaws, solidly executed, very drinkable,… This is really nice considering just how bad a lot of the beers from breweries of similar production sizes are.

75cl bottle courtesy of 77ships @ RBBSG II.
