Bottle split at gollem Pours hazy blonde no foam Very funky lambic smell Taste is .. Walnuts overkill ! Sugary . Even more extremely walnuts in the aftertaste . To weird , too bad . Fail rerate ( from the , maybe to-high rated 3,1 . 2006 version at kulminator. smell is complex, like a sweet - kind of lambic . taste has honey, banana ( especialy in the back) sourness, lambic, grains, all mixed very, very nice. i’m amazed . this is a 4,2 to me, and its a WHOLE diffrent beer than the 2012 version. medium = 3,6

Bouteille 330ml. De couleur brune foncée et opaque. Nez de levures fruitées (raisins, léger de prunes), de sucre brun, léger de houblon herbeux et caramel aux petites notes rôties ainsi que des notes de pain grillé. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen-élevé ainsi qu’une texture légèrement crémeuse. Goût de levures fruitées (moyen de raisins, léger de prunes, traces de figues) avec des traces de réglisse noire lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût de céréales sucrées et légèrement rôties avec un moyen goût de sucre brun ainsi que des notes de pain grillé, de chocolat noir et de caramel puis en finale l’on retrouve une légère amertume de houblon herbeux. Post-goût moyen, légèrement amer de houblon herbeux avec un goût de levures fruitées ainsi que des traces rôties.

Clear amber beer with a lightly sour nose. No real head. Light semi dry palate, low carbonation. Mild sourness. light vinegary fruit. Easy drinking and tasty.

Red colour, medium carbonation. Smell of cherry’s. Nice balance between sweet, sour and bitter. Not overly sweet. Good fruit beer. Dry finish.

Aroma is somewhat sour with citron, earthy and floral notes. Flavour is somewhat sour and stinging with floral, earthy notes, some citron and alcohol. Too much alcohol here.

zeer donker bruin van kleur, aroma licht zoet, donker fruit, mout, hout en metaal smaak is pittig kruidig, droge met een zeer bittere en zwaar pittig kruidige afdronk edoch niet te storend bitter. over het algemeen laat het verder te weinig indrukken achter --- Beer merged from original tick of 8° Blond on 17 May 2018 at 12:00 - Score: 5

75cl bottle with friends @ Diest Bierfest 20th Oct 2012. Pours a true red colour with a salmon pink thin head on top. Cherries being the main flavouring within the beer, they obviously lead the way in the aroma and taste: not as sour or powerful as say a Rodenbach Grand Cru but this isn’t from Flanders and although not sweet either it comes across as an easy going kriekbier that is well crafted and blended nicely. Based I believe around the Loterbol Blonde, but don’t quote me on that. The only kriek we had at the festival and very pleasant it was too.

19th Oct 2012: 33cl bottle in ’t Puur Genot, a strange Irish type bar in Diest. The 7.5% ABV beer came out into my glass like dirty dish water, murky and grubby brown looking, nice head of off-white bubbles though. Caramel and candy sugar aroma and flavour to the brew: a lot more malts than hops in this unbalanced, yet not unpleasant beer. Fruity notes came through as it warmed a little but the overiding taste was of sweetness from maltly molasses. The alcohol could be found and some yeastiness also: but although I enjoyed the bottle I didn’t order another, nor will I ever again.

19th Oct 2012. 33cl bottle (8% ABV) poured into the correct stemmed tulip @ ’t Puur Genot, a strange Irish type bar in Diest: I was there for the small Diest Beer Festival which was the following day. A huge head of white foam sat on top of the dull amber/yellow body which was slightly cloudy. Actually the head tasted and had a better aroma than the beer below! The head gave off a powerful bitter hop aroma and tasted very simular: when I got down to the beer it was all a bit calmer and less intense. Yeasty, fruity and maltier than the intitial foaming head taste: still hop bitter, but it had lost its ’umph’ and I didn’t really enjoy the beer once all the other flavours joined in. Lets just call it different and difficult to score objectively.
