The former name was brewery De Brouwketel, which was in operation at the current location at least from 1706 onwards. In 1884 the brewery became the property of the Duysters family. In 1968 the company was transformed into Duysters NV (limited liability company) which was active as a brewery until 1973.
The Loterbol brewpub started in 1995 in a renovated part of the brewery from the 18th century. in 2002 brewing started in the old brewery building of 1908. Both locations are still used for brewing.

33cl different label, Bb 2013.

0.375l corked bottle from etregourmet webshop. Interessting. This one pours a clouded bright orange body. Tons and tons of slushy dark sediments in the bottle, and the little white head quickly fades away in to near nothing. The aroma is some what subtle. Light tart-ish and kinda fruity actually with tones of white grapes, wood and a strange, but nice, hint of dry caramel. Interesting enough aroma. It has a really thin and watery texture, almost like drinking water, and a really soft carbonation level. On the border of being flat. Flavors are nice and light sour - not sour, but light sour, with woody and flowerish tones. Don't care to much for the somewhat alcohol-yeasty finish, but the aftertaste is quite refreshing - perhaps a bit watery with hints of sour. What DA huck! Was this 10.5%?? Could never have guessed that. Extreme camouflaged, and a nice mix within two genres. 22.02.2012

2007 Vintage @ home – left-over from RBWG 2012 – thx to Antoine & Nicholas a LOT for this – very soft pop when uncorking – no head on this whatsoever no matter how I try, almost white wine golden/orange – smell is musty & funky lambic/tart lemon – slightly stale – odd this taste more like the mixed this with doesjel than 3 yr old lambic to me, musty grains, fermenting pale malt, tart, bitter mouldy lemon afterwards, slight acidity, fermenting dough, bathroom mould, bitter pepper, odd malty bitterness rules the finish, rotting horseblanket, wood, hint sugar underneath, medium calvados/booze finish, taste like it is going flat like a beer that stood open for far too long, must have used real lambic (flat so), doesn’t seem like the base beer was any good nor like the lambic used was top notch, glad to have tried this but it is nowhere near what I expected from it, kind of a train wreck honestly even if I don’t entirely object to it

375mL cork and cage bottled from jbrus while I was on my Amsterdam trip and split with two others back home. Thanks a lot John, I was wanting to try this for a very long time. I fought temptation to buy this on ebay or trade some heavy stuff for it. This label states 10.5%. The cork pops with almost not other action. Pours with a thick golden color. As it pours it thickens with sediment. Aroma is lambic that is beautifully balanced with a golden Belgian with some age but no cardboard. The lambic is well wrangled in to allow the Belgian to shine as well. Tart sourness and acidity are well balanced by some Belgian candy. In the flavor more Belgian shines through over the lambic. Sweetness with some funk all around. Has a thick full mouthfeel.

750mL bottle purchased at Bierkoning on my Amsterdam trip in October, 2011 and shared at a KC gathering. 2008 bottle consumer in 2011. Pours with a thick head that fades quickly. Color is thick dark red. Aroma shows signs of age but cherry dominates. There is sweet yet natural cherry aroma with a natural musky element. As someone at the gathering stated, its like cherry pie. Flavor sweet pie with tart cherry at the back of the flavor. No age in the flavor. Mouthfeel is light and tangy. The beer is a nice fruit-beer beer akin to New Glarus but a but more natural with the musk. Pricey but fun if you want a non-artificial cherry beer.
