Description
The former name was brewery De Brouwketel, which was in operation at the current location at least from 1706 onwards. In 1884 the brewery became the property of the Duysters family. In 1968 the company was transformed into Duysters NV (limited liability company) which was active as a brewery until 1973.
The Loterbol brewpub started in 1995 in a renovated part of the brewery from the 18th century. in 2002 brewing started in the old brewery building of 1908. Both locations are still used for brewing.

Bottle at Chriso’s 2012 Pre-GBBF Shindig, London. Vintage 2010. A bit gusher. Pours hazy purple with a fine, white head. Loads of ripe cherries in the nose. Light to medium sweet flavor with moderate tang, some bitter cherry pits, grape skins. Light to medium bodied with high carbonation. Moderately sweet finish with ripe cherries, light funk, bitter fruit skins. Light tartness. Quite nicely balanced, with decent and lasting bitterness. Good.

Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig, 2012. It pours cloudy deep red, with a light pink head. The nose is tart fruit, red berry and light spice. The taste is slightly tart, raspberry, sour cherry, lemon, wood and some underlying sweetness, with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. A bit one-dimensional, but pretty tasty nonetheless.

Clear copper red beer, big noisy off-white head (yes, it makes noise!), unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: ripe banana, overripe fruit, bit spicy, citrus, little chemical, bit dusty, paint. MF: good carbon, medium to light body. Taste: malty, grains, bit of caramel, mocha, burnt toast, spicy bitterness, little metallic and slightly sourish, overripe fruits and banana. Aftertaste: bitter, grains, little metallic, sour touch. Not very good, yet not undrinkable either.

33cl bottle from Dranken Geers, BB 05/2012. Bottle shows brewed at Loterbol.

33 cl. bottle @ Kulminator // no clear indication of age but given the mould on the label & taste, it is probably not a recent one, I speculate that this is about 3 yrs old // hazy amber with a decent, solid off-white head // this has a very heavy yoghurt thing going on, on the nose, lots of yoghurt yeast, some barnyard & spices here as well // taste is dominated as well by yoghurt yeast, highly doubt that this was part of the original flavour profile, spices, Belgian yeast, bitter cloudberries, spices, touch barnyard & dash of booze in the back // carb. going touch softer, yoghurt yeast heavy body // agreable

Clear red brown beer, big fuzzy light beige head, unstable, non adhesive, lots of very small sediment floating around. Aroma: very floral, almost soapy, some dried fruits, grapefruit, fresh figs, citrus fruits. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: dark chocolate, some mocha, bit of dried fruits, nice fruity hops, warming alcohol. Aftertaste: ripe fruits, bitter hops, sweet alcohol, chocolate, honey. Not bad, but had higher expectations for this one. Don't know why...
