Description
In 1810 the Eden Estuary was offering its crystal clear waters to the legendary Haig brothers, helping them distil and lay down some of St Andrews' finest whiskies. Before them this same site hosted the Seggie Brewery, known for their strong connections with local farmers and agricultural workers
In 2012, Eden Mill resurrected this fine brewing and spirits tradition with our own take on Scottish craft brewing and distilling. Eden Mill were Scotland's first single site brewery and distillery – we benefit from the best of local water sources, regionally grown barley and a dynamic, international team with some of the best education and experience the world can offer. Our distillers are at the forefront of experimental wood ageing and distillation methods to bring out more of the outstanding flavours found in our products.
We know our beer, gin and whisky will stand the test of time and do the tradition of St Andrews brewing and distilling proud.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours murky golden orange with a thick white head. Aromas of yeast, spice and green plants. Taste is tomato soup! Weird.

33o ml bottle: BBE Sep 2018. Drank at home on 10th Aug 2017. Deep amber pour, off-white crown. More malty than hoppy in both the nose and taste, semi-sweet backbone with some fruity notes from the hop content. Thought it OK. Drank in between two Mikkeller beers which were both highly flavoursome, so this might have been at a disadvantage.

Bottle from Asda. Golden in colour, with moderate carbonation. Sweet, flabby malts, a touch of leafy hop, some stone fruits and a middling, bitter, finish. Uninspired drinking.

330ml bottle from Aldi, Inverurie. It pours hazy reddish - amber with a small white head. The aroma is quite spicy, clove, warming, banana, bit of tomato ketchup, hay and wheat. The taste is bitter - sweet, ginger, pepper, clove, apple, pear drops, red fruit, banana candy and wheat crunch with a drying finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. A bit better than the previous version. It still doesn’t set my world on fire though. Ok.

330 ml bottle, as Eden Mill St. Andrews The Clock Scottish Red Ale, 4.3% ABV. It appears now to be brewed in St. Andrews, but according to the brewery website it will soon be discontinued. Bought in The Howff, Aberdeen. Reddish colour, small off-white head. Moderate dryish and "dusty" malty aroma. Malty flavour, mid between dry and sweet, some light roasty notes, moderate hops. Not remarkable.
