Description
In 1810 the Eden Estuary was offering its crystal clear waters to the legendary Haig brothers, helping them distil and lay down some of St Andrews' finest whiskies. Before them this same site hosted the Seggie Brewery, known for their strong connections with local farmers and agricultural workers
In 2012, Eden Mill resurrected this fine brewing and spirits tradition with our own take on Scottish craft brewing and distilling. Eden Mill were Scotland's first single site brewery and distillery – we benefit from the best of local water sources, regionally grown barley and a dynamic, international team with some of the best education and experience the world can offer. Our distillers are at the forefront of experimental wood ageing and distillation methods to bring out more of the outstanding flavours found in our products.
We know our beer, gin and whisky will stand the test of time and do the tradition of St Andrews brewing and distilling proud.

Bottle from Asda. A light floral bitter golden ale. Certainly a good pub choice but quite average.

Cask at the Clockwork pub in Mount Florida, Glasgow. Light red, flat, no head. Malt aroma - it’s not a ’malt bomb’ as the scent is gentle, but definitely malt-led - with some redcurrant notes. Taste offers up no surprises: sweet and malty with some gentle fruity hop bitterness in the background with gives balance to the long finish. Oily body but it kind of works for the style. Good enough without pushing the boat out. Not sure that I’d have another.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from Royal Mile Whiskies, Bloomsbury. Pours deep brown with a fading, frothy beige head. Moderate toasted malts in the nose, some cocoa, nips of rubber. Light sweet flavour with dry chocolate character, mellow roast, further rubber notes, some dried berries, earthy bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Finishes pretty well in the balance, with more dry, bittersweet chocolate, moderate roasted malts, subtle scorched earth, old leather. Maybe a little tame, but altogether very drinkable.

Very lively amber beer, thick frothy head. Smells of zesty, spicy banana. taste has the same qualities, with the banana making for a mellow base and the spiciness initially strong up front but that soon eases off too, leaving some apple-y, citrusy fruit and a lingering, hopping bitterness.

Black body with yeast chunks floating beneath a medium tan head. Good lacing. Aroma of smoke, cocoa, cow pat and whisky. Flavour of rust, dark chocolate and a tangy finish. As the end of the glass - and the chunky yeast - nears, the texture becomes chalky and dry. Medium to full body with a smooth mouthfeel. Light fizz. I liked the body but overall this beer is quite disjointed and yeasty.
