Description
Mission Brewery was originally established in 1913, but like most breweries of the time, it went out of business during the first year of Prohibition. In 2007, Dan Selis, an avid homebrewer, re-established the brand and has built it into one of the top craft breweries in San Diego County.

Bottle@The Bishops Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm. Pitch black colour with a mediumsized off-white foamy head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is roasted malts, liquorice, some slight toasted tones with coffee and also some floral hoppiness to it. Flavour is pretty similar to the aroma, but focuses on the chocolaty and roasted tones. The other elements are milder.

Tap at the brewery. Pours light clear amber with a lacing white head. Earthy terpene aroma. Approaching full body. Flavor is amber malt supporting a lot of pine related flavors. Dry and earthy bitter. Different and excellent. Getting pineapple required introspection.

12oz goblet of 12% beer for $6. Clear & deep, oily gold with some leftover whitewash lace. Lemon pepper, half sharp toast, yeast, barrel, faint oxidation. Taste is similar to a smooth barleywine. Soft toast, candi, unidentifiable botanical wine notes, low but evident oxidation. Low acid, slightly buttery, faint fuggle + something else bittering. A hair too sweet, damn. Wanted more acid too. Still pretty good.
